If we add, it will be after the cut downs. After week 1 is my guess, but I don't think we will add anyone, unless there is an injury.

I think they have no intentions on keeping Morris. I think Jackson will be our starter week one. With Pollard and Weber as backups. Morris is just a security blanket. He is here incase one of our backs suffers an injury before the season.

Chunn hits the practice squad.

"What If" the Cowboys did want to add a better veteran option at RB than Morris?

Maybe a trade (4th to 7th round pick type trade).

Maybe a veteran starter that's become too expensive backup as a backup.

Who is Available?

Some Possibilities:

Niners (Seem to have too much money in RBs):
Matt Breida - Their young starter in 2018.
Jerick McKinnon - Signed a 4 year, 30M deal in 2018 but missed the season with an injury.
Tevin Coleman - 14 game starter for Falcons in 2018. Costs 3.25M in 2019.
Raheem Mostert - Minimal stats but they just gave him a contract averaging 2.9M.

Raiders (drafted Josh Jacobs in the 1st):
Doug Martin - Only 900K salary plus 1M in potential bonuses.
Jalen Richard - Tendered at 3.1M for 2019.
Isaiah Crowell - On IR. 1.25M cap hit.

Bills (drafted Devin Singletary in the 3rd)
LeSean McCoy - 9M cap hit at age 31.

Rams (Gurley + Darrell Henderson in the 3rd this year):
Malcolm Brown - Went to IR last season with a broken bone.

A similar thought. What veteran qb is available to back up Dak. Our current back ups are not tested and thereby not dependable. I will never forget the weak back ups when Romo had an injury. I thought our FO swore to never get caught with their pants down again. But here we are.

Rush has been the backup for the previous 2 seasons...

I would take Coleman and cut Witten, have an improved roster and tons of leftover cap room and cash for debauchery.

Similar to the year Dak was a rookie and that turned out OK. It’s not the experience level that matters as much as ability and ability to see the field.

Elliot will be back in house in the next 2 weeks. Wait for the breaking news and your phones to go off with alerts. Elliot will be in shape and need a few weeks to get into rhythm. He never plays in preseason anyways.

Zeke. For 70 million you can have the best.

Or if you are on a budget, we have a few on the back lot.

I was going to say Jim Thorpe but forgot he’s been dead for awhile now

I thought of Thorpe and Bronko Nagurski, but I had to go a little more modern (if you can call 50's & 60's modern) to find someone among the living.

Jalen Richard is a real good player . Real Good .

Just go young unless they have zero pass blocking skills.

Morris, Pollard, Webber, Jackson, Chunn behind that OL should produce a good running game.

several probably thought the same thing about Rod Smith as well ..
( should produce "behind that OL ")

that's why I keep insisting that it comes a time when we need instinctive, plus vision backs that can make it easier on the OL, than just vice versa. ..

Morris actually does have plus vision and feel (as Jerry says) for holes and creases, but his lack of burst and big play ability shows up too often.
it's a reason why the Cowboys were prepared to go with non-instinctive Rod Smith over Alf, though Jerry insists they were sick when Alf departed in FA. (yeh,,right, they'll say that now..lol)
