When was the last time you heard a player, not a Steeler, not build the QB up? It is not only expected but required.

There's Witten's viewpoint and those of the reporters that were watching for specific areas of improvement and even the ones that have been touting Prescott, were less than glowing but that is still all opinion.

We will get to see for ourselves in September and be able to make up our own opinions about the QB.

1. Dak has never been a scrub.
2. Witten has actually told coaches to “get this scrub off the field” during practice when players aren’t performing well.
3. There’s a big gap between avoiding criticism of a teammate to the media, and the detailed explanations on how Dak has improved that Witten gave. He easily could have avoided criticizing Dak without talking about the improvements that he has.

But it’s probably easier to just take the extreme position, call Dak a bum and call for him to be gotten rid of.
1. So what do you call Dak in those stretch of games in 2017 when he looked like the worst QB in the league?

2. All of this is irrelevant to this discussion. You are comparing a player in the heat of battle, high on emotions to a him being interviewed and having time to think about his answers. Show me an interview where a teammate openly says a player hasnt improved over the course of a year.

3. He is his teammate and that carries a bias. This is like Jerry or Stephen or even Will McClay being asked what changes they see in Dak.

Anyways, you completely missed the point. You sarcastically downplayed the media members grades of Dak’s play, but yet are here supporting Witten’s opinion. At the end of the day, they are all opinions. Just because Dak may have improved in those areas, doesnt mean he is having a stellar camp.

Here. A video of Jason Witten saying he thinks Dez can still play at a high level. Most if not all of Cz has told me Dez is washed up and was the fault of Daks poor sophomore season.

Now tell me that Jason Witten, calls it how he sees it all the time

Witten disagrees with posters on CZ and that’s evidence of Witten sugar coating things? LOL come on dude. Witten knows more than all of us. You know that.

Dak had a bad stretch and played poorly. No doubt. Hard for somebody Who is realistic to call him a scrub, when that same player also has long stretches of top 10 play in the entire league though. But of course you don’t bring that up when you throw out the inaccurate scrub label.

Scrub is just an extreme label and I called you on it. If you said Dak has overall been average lately I wouldn’t call that extreme.

Either way, it’s entirely possible and quite frankly likely that Dak has made improvements since Witten last played with him. But that Dak still has things he needs to keep working on.

I’ve never subscribed to the idea that a QB has peaked after 3 years and can’t keep improving.

I want a better player at his position, period

This was the best franchise in sports at one point. We should have an elite player at the most premier position
I agree my cowboy brother. I also remember what happened when Troy Aikman was no longer with us. I suffered through Randall Cunningham Drew Bledsoe the guy from the Jets. That I couldn't stand. And how many others I think 15 starters after Troy Aikman. So I think I appreciate Prescott more than others for that reason alone. So until we find someone better. That's not going to be easy. Because he's definitely a top 15 quarterback. So go Cowboys

The point is flying over your head dude.

Everyone knows Dez isnt elite anymore yet Witten thinks otherwise.

Yet u want me to believe Witten has no agenda

“is Dez still elite,”

Dakpresgoat: “well if witten said it, it must be true”

God I love this guy. They called him Mr. Cowboy and that’s so apropos.

He’s right about Dak. Here is a kid whose intangibles are off the charts. He is loved and respected by his teammates. And while we can disagree about where he is as far as talent goes (I think the numbers speak for themselves), he puts the time in and wants to get better.

Year 4 is a key year for quarterbacks. I think the Dak debate is going to end one way or the other after this season.
Dream on

I doubt that Witten is hyping him up. I mean, it IS Jason Witten. Since when does he candy coat things about players?
Most agree Dak has has had a pretty meh camp

Laufenberg said he was "fair." Mike Fisher graded it a C. Accuracy issues persist.

Witten is blowing him up like he's Brady.

IF what he said about Dak and anticipation is accurate, that would be a huge step forward. That along with inconsistent footwork and pocket awareness are my biggest concerns.
Those were all my concerns, though I've been hesitant to he to harsh on the footwork, and pocket awareness due to the issues with the O Line, and Zeke in, and out. Looking forward to seeing Prescott's continuing growth. I think he's a heck of a guy.

Witten. He, and Romo have to be two of the most lovable Cowboys ever. Just good humans.

Even if Witten was wrong in that instance it still
Proves nothing about his motivation for saying what he did.

This argument coming from you is particularly odd considering that neither you nor I wanted Dez cut and nobody knows how he would have done after leaving the cowboys if not for the devastating Achilles injury.

Quite frankly I think Dez still would have been a good receiver in the league, if he didn’t get one of the worst injuries possible for a skill player, the Achilles injury. So I’m not quite sure I agree Witten was fluffing Dez simply out of having an agenda for Dez. He said those comments before Dez got hurt.

And regardless, Witten made comments about Dak improving. He didn’t say he was elite. He didn’t say he was the best QB he didn’t play with. He simply said Dak has improved since he last played with him. Which only makes sense considering Dak is a young player and a hard worker. Most guys are still improving this early in their careers.

Lol, I don’t think Witten exaggerated nearly as much as this post. As far as the intangibles go, Witten didn’t say anything about Dak that hasn’t been consistently said over his career. Even fans who doubt Dak often concede that. As far as playing and making plays goes, Witten only talked about a young player having developed and learned from his rookie season to his 4th season.

It was the best.......20+ years ago. While I will ALWAYS be a fan of this team, what have they accomplished as a team since the ‘95 season?
Nothing, hence my major dislike for the front office, coach, and current QB.

Imagine this team with Mahomes or Watson at QB. And yes they both were definitely attainable *sighs*

I use speak and text it often misspells players names. I have an issue typing my finger sting. So all you keyboard Junkies, who complain about someone else's spelling. How well is your life in order
Whirl.......you should use what you just said in your sig. You wouldn't have to explain yourself a bajillion times. Just a suggestion.

I imagine the same results as Romo had.......not much of anything. For all your dislike of Dak, he’s 1-2 in the playoffs, whereas Romo only managed a 2-4 record in 10 years (ok, 9.5). And, what are the combined playoff records of Mahomes and Watson? As good as they are, they apparently aren’t so super that they can get their teams over the hump all by themselves. Yet, you only see Dak as the issue.
