What if Jason Witten had waited a week to announce his retirement last year?

Has it occurred to anyone that if Jason Witten had waited a week to announce his retirement last year, it would have been after the draft and the Cowboys would have been able to select their tight end of the future and namesake, Dallas Goedart instead of having the Eagles jump in front of them to pick him because they knew we needed him? Would you rather that have happened or are you happy with Connor Williams and a cast of thousands at tight end?

The Cowboys knew BEFORE the draft that JWit was going to announce his retirement.

Not sure the Cowboys would have taken Goedart or not, but let’s see how Jarwin and Conner Williams develop for Dallas and how Goedart develops for Philly before deciding it things worked out

Connor Williams doesn't play tight end.
he knows this hes assuming goedert would have fallen to us and wed pick him..hes assuming that hilly knew because of Wittens timing on the announcement we would likely go after him and traded up..all assumptions and dont live in the past..He uses Cwills name because he instead of a TE was chosen..

Live in the present my friend this was beat to death in april 18 lol let it go.

The assumption was they would go for Goedart and PHL jumped them and have the best TE tandem in the league. Hurt your opponent and help yourself. Also gives them some leeway to either trade or let Ertz walk and save some cap before he's up.

Not the first time they've pulled that. They knew Parcells was going to take Shawn Andrews and traded up ahead of them in the 1st and grabbed him but that one backfired on them as he was an IR waiting to happen.

I don't have a problem with the selection of CWill. Having said that I really think the Cowboys could use a more dynamic player at TE. Witten should be fine this year, but (assuming everything else goes to plan) hopefully next year is another year with TE depth.

It's Goedert.

That was a false report. The Cowboys would have drafted Connor Williams over Goedart.

That has been debunked for over a year, about the Eagles doing that. But some still want that urban legend to keep living.

Yeah, I'm totally not sure what went on. Of course the Cowboys said they wanted Williams all along. They would never say they were going to take Godoert. I guess I'm just asking if you're happy with Williams and would rather have him

I'm willing to see what more Jarwin has. I also didn't realize Goedert was so old as a rookie, he is almost the same age as Jarwin (they will both be 25 by the end of the 2019 season)
