This was the 22nd-ranked scoring team in the NFL last year. And it was 26th in the red zone.

Can we really have a "top-five paid" tag on 6 positions on offense?

And the highest paid quarterback?

Looking at negotiations, you'd think this team was coming off of back-to-back SB wins.
These players get so gassed playing for the Cowboys. They see themselves all in the headlines after a playoff victory and think that's enough.

Someone should remind Dak that we've witnessed Super Bowls. This is a disrespectful counter offer.

$40M is code for “go ahead and franchise me, twice.”

Might not be a bad route to go for Dak, honestly. He’ll lock in a big payday, collect the franchise tag dollars, and participate in the new QB market after the CBA and Mahomes’ new deal potentially resets the market.

You may be on to something here...

Lol. Last I heard they were asking 34 like Wilson got. Whom is a SB winning QB. Was looking to settle in around 32 or 32.5. Slightly higher than wentz got.

If he is asking for 40 and won’t take the 32.5 then he plays his rookie deal out and tag him next year.

Dak and Elliot talking every day. Wonder if Dak gets close to opening day and starts talking about holding out.

Completely delusional.

Play out this year, then let him walk.

I'll just add that it's probably just more negotiating tactics. But still. He needs to be a lot closer to $30M than $40M. If Dak gets $40M, Mahomes will get $80M

Who do we roll with next year? Cooper Rush?

In negotiations you ask high, entertain lowball offers and meet in the middle. But the media knows you'll only react to the players asking high. That way people can stretch their "outrage" muscles and the media can get their clicks.

That would be a godsend. YES!!!!!!

If he's ultimately worth it, then pay that man. Jerry certainly will.

In the meantime, the Cowboys get three years with him without the franchise being held hostage in future years if it goes the wrong way.

And by the way, the franchise tag thing will probably be VERY different in the new CBA.

She's fairly tied in, and I have no doubt that the team is leaking this to her because they know how we'll all react.

Public opinion is way against Dak on this.
The team releases all these rumors. Anything that favors the team you know is coming from them.
