I wouldn't doubt it's true but all of this should be quiet. They should quit negotiating in the media. Don't hear any other NFL teams do this.
Other teams do it all the time. Dallas is better than most about it.

If Dak is making a crazy demand like this, the ENTIRE fan base will support the organization. Dak is making a huge miscalculation here. His agent is giving him horrible advice.

If he's the same guy as last year, his value could drop like a rock. He should sprint to Jerry and sign that $30 million offer right now.

This is GREAT news for us. A prove-it year benefits the team tremendously.

Completely delusional.

Play out this year, then let him walk.

I'll just add that it's probably just more negotiating tactics. But still. He needs to be a lot closer to $30M than $40M. If Dak gets $40M, Mahomes will get $80M
Agreed! And I love Dak!

By the time he's eligible to be franchised, the top 5 QB AAV will be north of 36 million. It's already at 33 million. Yikes.

For one year, that's no big deal. You just move money around.

By the time the new CBA kicks in, there may not be a franchise tag system like this anyway.

Well Like I said in the other thread I'm all for a prove it year. I'm not sure about him. I like a lot of what he does. He's a great leader but we should be sure before we sign him long term. If he has to play any games without Zeke it will be a great evaluation process. I think it'll cost us a chance at the SB though. Then again with Garett my hopes aren't too high on that.

True. He'll sign between $32-$35

Ideally, that is the ceiling for his contract.

While the reported $40 million is, no doubt, a negotiating ploy, you still have to wonder just what the agent is thinking by allowing this info to make its way into media.

Now, maybe the agent is thinking that this may well build his client base. Regardless what the outcome is, this tarnishes Dak brand and image.

Getting riled up over preseason contract rumors is real dumb. Both sides leak things to manipulate the media coverage. It's still the NFL's "lying season" at this point.

I also wouldn't confuse "Dak's agent maybe said a thing" with "Dak will personally tell everyone in Texas to eat a buffet of [censored] if he doesn't get a quadrillion dollars NOW!" like people are taking it.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Dak is in full control of what he will allow his agents to negotiate on his behalf. So he has no one to blame but himself for the resulting perception
