In the 'Talking Cowboys' show, with Broaddus saying he thinks Noah Brown will already have made this team “ by default “.
Add that to what I believe VP Stephen jones on CBS telecast Niners game has already indicated Noah will indeed be on this team.

If that’s likely so, then I’m already preparing to toss all this talk hype of increasing more pure speed on offense out of the window– if Brown is already on the team.

In fact I don’t even think ANY of the newly added speed guys will be on this 53 roster ( johnson, guyton or davis) if we are going with the likely 6 WR roster projection.
In fact, here’s what I see as the WR unit:

1 cooper
2 gallup
3 cobb
4 wilson
5 austin
6 brown

Cobb will basically be the only new addition here. Wilson was here last year, preparing for slot duty until his shoulder injury IR'ed him.
What gets me is Noah Brown is still an underdeveloped, limited WR that does NOT have prove or earn his roster role – but he again will basically miss another entire summer as yet under-developed pass receiver.
but he has already been given his stamp of approval ?

and he's likely gonna have the same role he has had the last two years here-. Blocking, those misdirection underneath/ goal line packages and special teams work.

Noah Brown fills a variety of roles. He has the size and speed to play outside receiver; he blocks well enough to be used like an h-back on running plays, and he helps out on special teams.

I can see the Cowboys moving on from Brown, but only if they feel confident one of the young receivers on this camp roster can do everything Brown does.

Agreed.

With what you said, I believe he makes it.

If you can't get on the field you shouldn't make the team. Your best ability is your availability.

Cobb..... Recent health issues
Wilson.... Recent health issues
Brown..... Recent health issues
Austin..... Recent health issues

Does that make y'all feel great about the receiving corps? Ton of potential here, no doubt.

This team held onto Rico Gathers sans any improvement for how long? They didn't even really give him a chance. They just thought he would miraculously wake up and be a great TE one day.

Given that, does the Noah Brown situation really surprise you?

Getting Brown on the 53 is simple just cut Mike White, keeping him off of the game day 46 will be more of a challenge. Keeping only three tight ends might also help in this regard. It's still early sports fans;)

Football Outsiders called Noah Brown "the perfect 4th wide receiver", because he blocks well enough to spring screens and run plays out of spread sets, he plays special teams, and he works really cheap. Catching footballs is almost besides the point, he provides enough value in other ways to justify a roster spot. I could see him having a James Hanna type career, where he sticks around on the Cowboys for year after year despite never catching more than 10 passes in any of them.

Right, he missed all of last camp and was brought back as the IR player, even after the Cooper trade. Basically what I was expecting. They always seem to keep 1 receiver to function solely as a blocker. At least he seems to be really good in the roll!
