Not so sure about that Roy. No one objected to Michael Irvin getting paid and Zeke is nowhere near Michael in off the field activities! Most of the 90's clubs were far worse off the field than Zeke and they got paid by Jerry.

I'm sure the team will attempt to use off field things as leverage with Zeke and in the media but it all will come down to the cap and his position IMO.

Irvin was, but nobody really knew about any of that until years later. And Irvin wasnt getting suspended like Zeke. Irvin was also the #1 emotional team leader of that team.

I think you can see the difference.

Trade one player holding out for a contract for another player holding out for a BIGGER contract.

NICE!!!

This team doesn't want to pay Zeke what he wants, but they're gonna trade for a guy likely to get 2-3x that much? Come on guys...

Rumors flying around the Eagles could be interested trading for Clowney.

The team DEFINITELY knew about Irvin. Jimmy Johnson and most of the staff coached him at thy be U, and he was no choir boy there either. Trust that...

Folks are complaining about paying arguably the best RB in the League due to cap reasons and wanting to be able to sign other players. Yet, would entertain having to pay another $100M contract to a DE?

Ok...
You're sooo close.

Yes people don't want to pay a RB. They'd happily pay a DE.

There is a lesson in there.

Also Zeke isn't the top back in the league. And it's obvious the Cowboys don't believe that also.

Dallas will end up paying Zeke Toruk...

Just considering the players on the field, I'd make that deal. But that would immediately put us over a barrel with another huge contract negotiation.

The Texans aren't even sure if they want to pay Clowney's contract. He's become a very productive defender for them and is just a freaking tank against the run (watch him week 5 vs Cowboys), but pass rush is what makes you money, and he has never developed into a high-end pass rusher. Dude has never had a double-digit sack season in his career. I think D-Law is a better player than him honestly.

So the Texans are stuck in a position where they have to give sack daddy money to an injury-prone guy who's talented but not a sack daddy. If you offered them 2 cost-controlled years of Zeke, I bet they'd take it in a heartbeat (assuming BOTH players ended their holdout, lol) because I don't think they intend to resign him - not at the Lawrence/Clark/Ford market rate.

losing zeke and gaining clowney will not increase the cowboys chances at getting to the big dance. in all likelihood, it will decrease our chances. losing clowney and gaining zeke will greatly increase the Texans chances of getting to the big dance. keep zeke.

Thanks to a crooked NFL FO and he has been held out in 2 meaningless games. But he has never missed because of injury. Want to try again?
Making excuses for Zeke doesn't show you are an unbiased contributor in this discussion. You made a lousy point so just concede it.

Concede to what?
My point was very valid to the post I responded to.
