Over the years I’ve discovered that fans are extremely critical of everything our front office does. Either critical or cynical. The fans on this site are especially tough on the Jones family due to the long drought of success.

So when I’m reading such positive things about the front office’s stand regarding team contracts, I’m actually more than a little surprised.

To the players: when the fans start siding with the owner over your contract demands, you are in big trouble. That is rare air, maybe moreso in Dallas. When you start to lose the fans, you are in trouble. Time to talk to your agents and find a compromise. Get a fair contract signed, young guys.

It’s the end of the world as we know it. And I feel fine. REM

I think a lot of people are turning on Zeke. I'm personally done with him and couldn't care less if he ever returns. Greedy SOB. Trade him to Buffalo. Him and Beasley can complain about the Cowboys together.

I'm feeling that way more and more. I'm sick of trying to defend and justify his behaviors (real and accused). He hasn't gone one off season without some sort of controversy. Right now, he is acting like a spoiled brat. Now, if he had a clean record, I might be more sympathetic to his cause. He's a great player, he's our best offensive player, and he's taken quite a load for the team.

But he keeps getting into trouble. Jerry took on the Commissioner of the NFL because of him....at great personal cost (financially...and to his reputation). If Zeke truly wants Jerry to pay him as much as Gurley, then I suggest he come back this season, play his butt off, and have NO ISSUES at all off the field. Then, maybe Jerry will feel a little more comfortable compensating him like the best RB in the NFL.

:hammer:The amount of money these guys are asking for...that haven't won anything of significance is mind boggling.

Just because you play for the Dallas Cowboys doesn't mean you deserve top dollar on a contract.

Fans are siding with themselves. They care more about the salary cap than they do about the players.

If there wasn't a cap they'd support the players because Jerry has plenty of cash and they want the players on the field.

I think Zeke’s story is unique, since all of the trouble he and the team went thru last year.

I actually think what the OP sees as positive, is actually segments of the fanbase that didn’t like certain moves to begin with and don’t want the mistakes exacerbated. I’m not saying that’s me, but I have a lot of friends that think 1) drafting a running back with a high 1st round pick, 2) handing the reigns over to Dak, and 3) trading a 1st round pick for a WR... Were all mistakes by the FO. So of course those people don’t want to hand out big contracts to those same guys.

we drafted Emmitt 1st round. And Dorsett.

Worked out ok with them.

Working out ok with Zeke too.

It’s called being smart. This crap wouldn’t fly with a team like the pats. They’d trade a guy like zeke in a heartbeat.

It’s clear that the players/agents are trying to take advantage of jerry being a “players guy”

Jerry the players guy has made fair offers. Jerry the businessman will not just roll over for these guys.
