They literally drafted a 4th round RB who has done nothing but impress.
Btw the 4th round and later is where a smart team gets all their RBs.
Joe Thomas wishes he could have blocked for Zeke.
Its just unfortunate the Cowboys did not anticipate this hold out and cover themselves in the off season. Management by crisis continues........
Thomas fails to take into account the fact that Zeke is still locked up for a minimum for two years.
I’m sorry but if you have two years left on your deal. That lowers Your value a bit. Let’s face facts.
Thought they did by drafting 2 Running backs. Its Itt like the cowboys are trying to move on from him.
I don't think using 4th and 7th round rookies to replace the rushing champ is a sound strategy. .......IF that was the strategy.
Well you dont draft a rb in the 1st round if your still offering zeke too 5 money either. So yea they took 2 midround guys they thought could play. They dont dont to be as good as zeke but they do need to be productive.
Joe Thomas is a Hall of Famer, but he played on some of the worst teams in NFL history. Never even played a playoff game. He doesn't value winning at all. I'd rather take a little bit of money off to play on a winning team than make top dollar on a terrible team.https://heavy.com/sports/2019/08/cowboys-ezekiel-elliott-contract-holdout-joe-thomas/
For those that don’t want to click - it’s Joe Thomas.

Dallas has played in 14 playoff games since 1996. The Browns have played in just 1. The Browns would kill for what Dallas has done since 1996, and even that isn't good enough!Like everyone on the Cowboys since 1996, apparently, since that's the last time they mattered.
Certainly nobody in the 2000s who cared about winning should have stayed on the Cowboys. They should have quit and gone to the Patriots.
Zeke's two optionsI know right? Of all guys to open their cake hole. He was so comfortable losing, he never even bothered trying to leave.
Well, thats just it. They weren't offering Zeke anything in April prior to the draft. The holdout caught them with their pants down. Now, they are apparently going to pay him rather than risk going into the season with a rookie.

They said many times they planned extending zeke. They probably didnt think he would hold out but they planned on extending him not replacing him.
Yes. Because running game isn't about the running back. It's about your offensive line. You think we drafted the second best rb on the University of Memphis to cover us and replace Zeke? Uh, no. The team had no idea this was coming. Thats like someone saying we drafted Prescott to replace Romo. It happened but it wasn't part of any grand plan.
