A million dollars is not all that much money in this era. 200k a year. I bet there are at least 1000 members here pulling down something close to that doing whatever they do.

I like that the kid gave it his best shot and did whatever was asked of him. He earned every penny.

Yeah. Okay. Give me a million free and clear and watch what I do with it.

Jameill Showers has done quite well for himself in Dallas - especially as a player who never made the 53-man team. Showers had no practice squad eligibility left in 2019. But since he was waived/injured, and no one claimed him, he reverts to the Cowboys Injured Reserve list, and will get paid $378K this year. Not bad. That injury in preseason game #4 is paying off for him.

Here is the 5 year history of his pay in Dallas:
2015 - $51,176
2016 - $117,300
2017 - $108,000
2018 - $363,000 (on injured reserve)
2019 - $378,000 (on injured reserve)
Total - $1,017,476 - an average of over $200K per year.

He could even be brought back for a 6th offseason next year, as the Cowboys still own his rights as an Exclusive Rights Free Agent.

The Cowboys have been beddy, beddy good to Jameill...

Jameill, dawg.

Jameil Showers has been like our cat with nine lives!

He was useful in the special teams, no question.

Let's see if he's utilized as a coach in 2020.

I agree fully. It's not a lot of money. I'm still struggling at 228k before taxes and insurances, and that's in Texas with no state income taxes.

Credit to him. He used his skills to earn a good salary while in his early to mid 20s. Still young enough to start out on a new career post foottball.

Less than that

And then after taxes it's barely 140k
Basically, I'd say you are making the typical mistake of many Americans, spending more than you make. You should not be struggling at all at the amount. My wife and I together make less than that, and we are very comfortable and take a couple vacations per year, and buy pretty much whatever we want. Might want to try a financial counselor.

I'm struggling because house prices are downright insane when they should be cheap because in Texas foundations sink off the house every 10-15 years. Texas has by far the worst foundation issues in the USA.

Can't buy even a crappy starter house with cash for less than $200k today.
