The clock is ticking on the Cowboys, with their season opener less than 48 hours away. But they still have hopes of getting a deal completed with Dak Prescott before kickoff against the Giants.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Friday the sides are negotiating.

“In general, I would say yes on Dak. I would say very limited on Amari [Cooper] for a range of reasons that will eventually get worked out, and we can proceed with him as well,” Jones said of negotiations during his radio show on 105.3 The Fan. “I’d say the dialogue has been good, and we’re still holding out hope we can figure out how to come up with a deal by the game on Sunday.

I hope this all a ruse. I hope Stephan and Jerry are just talking up Dak’s contract. I hope they at least let him play further into season to see where he is in his development before shelling out $35 million per.

I just hope it doesn't get into his head during the season I don't think it will but things like that have a way of sneaking in when you don't know it or going to your head after it's complete

And then see mahomes sign for 45 million. Then Dak really will get 40 mill if he plays just decent this year.

I’ve said it since the beginning, personally, i’m fine with paying him more if he has a good to excellent season. Everyone says he was limited under Linehan so it’s best to see what he has under Moore.

If he craps the bed, then we’ll know. If he plays awesome, by all means, pay the man.

Bull when you have Dak making 2 million on his rookie deal & Cousins at 28 million & Wentz 27 million time to get it done is NOW not after the season Dak is a leader !

Dak is getting signed this weekend. Or do you lack reading comprehension?

So, you can take your wishful scenario and shove it where the sun don't shine.
