No one is trading for Taco. Why would they?

Because defensive ends are a premium in this league. You build your team around your offensive and defensive lines. Taco was a first round pick and he had a very nice pre-season. In fact, the reason the Cowboys are not playing him is because they want his last game to be the pre-season game that he dominated to get other teams interested.

Send him to the Dolphins.

The thinking is if we don't get something for him this year, 2020 is his last year under contract. So he walks and we get nothing.

The problem seems to be that Marinelli told Charlton he’s got to get his mind right. He needs to understand you can’t go half-speed, you can’t mope around when you’re injured or when someone else is playing better than you and taking your reps. You have to work at all times, you have to show that your willing to do what it takes to reach your maximum potential, whatever that is. And apparently he's not meeting those expectations.

His 2017 draft report indicates the same problems....."Despite talent and traits, production and overall play has been uneven at Michigan. Earned full-time starting nod in just his final season. Held back by his inconsistent play speed."
Good insight. Maybe Taco balled out in PS because he's already out and has been auditioning.

I’ve been super hard on Taco, but he must have seriously pissed the Cowboys off for them to be looking to trade him. He did play a little better in the preseason.

Unless they really need the roster spot, I probably wouldn’t trade him unless it was for a 4th or better and no one would probably pay that.

His potential upside is worth more than a 5th to 7th pick.

Charles Harris,Dolphins...he was another DE I liked during that draft...I thought going in he'd be the pick.

maybe Falcons swap DE Takk McKinley...probably not.

So the dude finally shows a lot of promise, as he looked like our best DE all PS, and now we want to cut bait? Especially considering we didn’t even pressure Eli at all? I don’t get it.

So we're OK to label Taco an epic bust and admit that drafting him over TJ Watt was a failure of epic proportions?

Good, I'm glad that we've finally got that all sorted out.
We all know that but Rod still doesn’t.

Trade him back home (he played at Michigan) to the Lions for safety Will Harris, who we supposedly wanted bad in the draft. He was the Lions 3rd round pick, so I doubt they would want to give up on him so quick, but he's not in the 2-deep currently and they are thin at DE.

If he walks you get a compensation pick. In a year when you plan to contend you want guys in their contract years. Those are the guys you need.
