Watching him demonstrate the throwing motion, hard to believe he ever threw a football, never mind made it to the NFL. But I think he is OK at his job, in spite of that.

His demonstration was fine. It's just cool to hate on Chris Simms since he didn't pan out in the NFL.

No question his mechanics and approach have changed. No more "worm-burners" or "kite-balls". The ball is getting out faster. Even his mistakes are more accurate (and eminently more catchable). Yeah, there is room for improvement, but I must say that I love this new Dak. I'm finally confident that he can take the next step (instead of just hoping he will). I would say that his biggest detractors have less ammo now (especially when you look at a lot of young QBs in this league now).
I think you and I are on the same page.

I watched the game again, and dak was not throwing like chris said he was, he only threw side armed one time to get ball around pass rusher.
Dak looked quicker but the throwing motion has not changed much.

As someone in another thread alluded to. Dak is getting the ball out quicker because he's making his reads better. You can tell this year he has alot more control of the offense.

I also truly believe linehan/garret never let dak get into rhythm in games. We've seen since his rookie year vs GB, sometimes he has slow starts but once he gets it going he's making plays all over the field. In that GB game he had to throw the whole game cause we were down early.

In close games last year i felt garret/linehan went out of their way to take the ball out of daks hands. He's legit one of your top 3 playmakers on offense, you have to trust him.

I remember reading Tom Brady changed his motion several years into his career.

Browsed Google, apparently Brady has done it several times with a body mechanics coach.
Rommo was constantly working on his throwing. Changing it every off-season. Even if it was a minor thing.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that's why his first TD pass to Jarwin looked a little weird. He was so surprised and excited to see Jarwin wide open

What I saw when re-watching that play...he lost his balance just a bit right before the pass. Got it done though.

I disagree. We aren't talking about--or wanting a "side arm" . Want something in that 10 o'clock position

Yeh i didn't know how it was gonna play out. But i'm pretty sold on both hires.
In fairness, NONE of us knew how it was going to play out. And make no mistake, this thing is going to hit a bump in the road. This is the NFL. It's too tough to be that efficient week in and week out (especially once teams start to get some tape on you).

I think the important thing, for us fans, is to keep a level head about it when this team does play a turd of a game (and they will). It doesn't change the fact that this offense, and it's direction, is on the proper trajectory.

I think he double-clutched because he couldn't believe how open he was and second-guessed whether or not he'd missed a defender somewhere. But either way, you're right that I think he was so surprised he almost missed that throw.
He did double clutch it and barely got ahold of it correctly enough to even throw a pass. I don't remember if it was on the sounds of the game or sideline sounds clips but Prescott was asked about the pass by either Moore or another coach and he straight up said that he double clutched it.

The true test will be when he actually has some pressure on him. He was the least pressured QB of week 1 and was never hit while throwing. Mechanics can revert when under duress
You are 100% correct. Dak's mechanics, though not perfect before, were serviceable even before the change in the throwing motion, as long as he felt comfortable.

When Dak got sloppy with his mechanics (especially his footwork) was when he was under duress. If he can maintain solid fundamentals under pressure, it's a sign that his game as a true passer has made a major stride (and subsequently cured his biggest weakness).

I mean it would be unrealistic for us to expect those kind of results every week. But the motions and wrinkles that moore has introduced is a good start.

Absolutely and, as a guy that has never been fully sold on Prescott, with Moore calling an offense that makes the reads easier for the QB and calling a game that plays to his strengths the excuses are starting to run out for a lot of people that are/were under the impression that Dak may not have what it takes to do this at an elite level.

Again, it's only one game so, no one should be fitting either one of these guys for a gold jacket but if this whole thing continues on a similar trajectory deep into a playoff run the excuses will have run dry for pretty much everyone who still isn't on board.

Some guys are better teachers than they are players. You have to be athletically gifted to be one of the great players, that or have an incredible work ethic.
But teaching is not necessarily tied to athletic giftedness or work ethic. That's why great players often don't make good coaches (Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, Mike Singletary, etc.) and why average players make great coaches (Nick Saban, Bill Belichick, etc.).

I've had my concerns about Dak, but was greatly pleased by what I saw out him against the Giants. I still think there is some room for improvement, but he looked a ton improved in getting the ball out faster and catching his recievers coming out of their breaks. This allows for more YAC (which was evident on several passes to Gallup). This is more than just a change in playcalling. This is about a different approach, confidence in his receivers and improved throwing mechanics. Many of these things I've harped on Dak about in the past, but despite a few slightly errant (but eminently catchable!) passes, Dak was complete money on just about everything!

This is what I've been waiting for in terms of getting behind Dak 100%. I'm happy to report that I've gone from a "hopeful, but somewhat skeptical" Dak fan to a cautiously optimisitc believer, lol. Still, I've seen enough to have no reservations in signing him for the big bucks (where I would have signed him, but had reservations last season).

Interesting look at newly incorporated deep fakes and Prescott's throwing motion.
