Can Dallas play to a standard instead of down to the opponent

So we're past game 1 vs a bad Giants, do you believe that we can continue to play at a high level or continue the old curse of "great game, praise then crash"

I saw this question on 24/7 and it made me uncomfortable.

It’s the NFL so some teams will play you tough that you think shouldn’t. The main thing is to win.

I just think now that Garrett has his grubby little clapping hands off the offense that it puts us in a better position for success since we don’t just have to out athlete the other team to win.

We are looking like the dynasty 90's on offense, but it's the defense that's still dropping turds. So if the defense can right the ship we can easily play to a standard.

Opinions vary just like beliefs and this is just my opinion. Use the toilet defense.

Its Garrett. There is an organizational philosophy to sit on leads. As soon as they are up by a reasonable margin, they play soft cover 11 defense and run the ball up the middle until they punt on offense. Opposing team comes back. When they are down, they put the gas on the pedal and air it out. End result is that almost every game ends up being close. An opposing team has to be totally inept in order to not crawl back in the game.

Its no coincidence that Dallas won so many games by less than one score last year. That's the plan.

A good plan? Probably not.

Nice post. In my opinion it would be kinda hard to argue this perspective during the JG era. I share your point of view.

The real question for me is can we field a team that plays good on both sides of the ball consistently. Last week we played a great offensive game, and a so so defensive game. I think we have the talent on both sides, but weather due to bad coaching or bad playing or both, the defense really didn't play to the level I expected them to.

Historically we have a tendency to play down to the level of our opponents, particularly division rivals. If that changes this year we will be tough to beat given our talent level.

I got sick just reading this, but you're right. I don't mind this philosophy midway through the 4th, it just pisses me off midway through the 3rd.

lol. garrett was not involved in the offense since they hired linehan. Garrett is more involved now than the last few years.

There is going to be a few losses in there. That's the way it goes. The D and offense will have marginal days. But this team as it stands today is a powerhouse. The offense is close to unstoppable.

I think we are very fortunate that we have an easy beginning to our schedule. It will allow us to get some momentum and confidence. And it will allow a few weeks for Quinn to get back from his suspension before we play a great team.

Cmon, you cant really believe that. Linehan was essentially running Garretts offense in the Garrett way. Conservative, predictable, boring, no creativity.

This year Jones demanded change with Moore and essentially said that his ideas HAD to implemented or he would see to personally that they were. It was all but telling Garrett to stay out of the way and let Moore do his thing.

At this point in the Garrett era he has never been more handcuffed in his role here. He has essentially been neutered from even the offensive side of the ball.

That offense and the way it was called looked nothing like anything we have seen here in Dallas since Garrett has been here.
