Defense is the achilles heel at this point

I know the Cowboys are playing well, and to suggest the defense is bad at this point of the season would be a HUGE exaggeration, but the defense does not look right. They are playing super soft on the WRs and letting the backs and TEs get those mid-range catches,,,which leads to 2nd and 3rd and short. The run defense seemed better this week, but again, AP is not exactly in his prime. Maybe the pressure will be better when we get Quinn back, but I am not impressed with the D at this point.

I will say that Dak is looking a heck of a lot better than Ryan, Rothlesburger and a few other "superstars". That is a huge positive.

It's a bend but don't break defense.
Unfortunately, even with Richard here, our back seven hasn't really improved on the turnover part of the game.

IMO Lawrence is still rusty and well the rest of the line is average at best. D-Law will have a favorable matchup this week versus Jesse Davis.

I thought Davis was on the other side at left tackle?

He could be. I'll be lying if I said I watched a second of that game.
Checking out till 2020 for the Phins.

Knew they were talking about it during the week but never bothered to check. lol

Even then, whoever they have at RT should be a better matchup for Law.

I checked on their depth chart to see who Quinn would be facing in his first game as a Cowboys and they listed Davis as the starter at left tackle.

To be honest, their entire offensive line looks like a favorable matchup. But with how disappointing our 'Boyz' have been, who knows?

I hope they have a big game this week. If Tank doesn't have a disruptive game I'll be worried. Rusty or not he's going up against someone off the street. I mean, Miami is full of Torrin Tuckers.

I enjoyed the win yesterday but, yeah, I found myself thinking - man, why can’t we have a great offense and a great defense in the same year?

This run defense is going to be a problem. We won’t see it manifest against bad teams because once the Cowboys get ahead, the opponent doesn’t have the luxury of running the ball.

But those run defense problems we saw against the Rams that got us gashed were a sign of things to come. We can’t get pressure on the quarterback either and Richard isn’t blitzing like last year.

There’s still time to get this fixed. This team should start 5-0. Get it fixed before the packers game or this will just be another really good team that gets bounced in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Sorry I did not add this to my original post (two kids needing to get off to school), but beating the Giants and Commanders with this defense is one thing, my fear is the defense facing the Packers, Pats or any other high power offense. We may be able to keep pace offensively, but I hope we can see improvement.

The pass rush is just like the pass rush from the previous few years..................... middling.

It might be fool's gold thinking Quinn somehow transforms the pass rush. Other than the random Collins play, there is zero push from the inside. Crawford did get a sack on a stunt but overall, he's not really doing much on the outside. Lawrence? I expected more for a $21MM DE. He's played well enough but when you are making that type of money, you need to dominate and he's not.

Reminder: Tank just had Surgery, he’s not 100% yet he was very disruptive. Go back and watch the tape....

We're playing soft because we're playing with the lead. I'm glad to see they aren't worried about stats and are just worried about milking the clock and getting the win.

it is frustrating to see the DBS are the right spot, great coverage but NO ball skills.. Balls hitting you I the heads, hands, and zipping right by you with you back turned.. they dont seem to get their head around..

Its why I like BJ but if his price is to high I say you move on , we need more ball skills guys.. we saw this kind of coverage for years like Carr and Morris and Jenkins, all good Cbs but bad ball skills.. they seem to cover very well but QBs who are accurate see your back and they will throw it no matter hos good the coverages are..

cant blame the coaches really.. we need more pressure sure but I saw yesterday 3 INTs should have been had..ad opportunity's for 5, so 3 should have been had..
