1. I think it if you aren't a Cowboys fan you might want to avoid this board for a good while. It could be a long year for here for non-Cowboys fans.

2. Philly is old and got hurt exactly as happens to old teams. Makes me wonder why smart football people didn't knock them for it BEFORE the season?

3. Dak Prescott is better than even I thought but thankfully I wasn't one of the dummies haranguing him because he couldn't make Allen Hurns and Tavon Austin superstars.

4. Zeke had 100 yards in week 2 after the extended hold out. He never needs another training camp snap again. If a RB body only has so many carries Zeke needs to take zero before week 1 and then slowly ramp up as season wears on. I;m not sure I'd give him more thna 10 carries next week.

5. NFL tanking has brought us this... A bye week that is not a Bye week. I'm not a coach so can let them worry about complacency and such but the Dolphins are the worst NFL team I have EVER seen. This week should be about getting lots of snaps for kids. Rest anyone dinged at all. If Taco isn't traded, start him.

6. The Saints haven't been the same since DAL beat them last year. DAL figured out how to handle Thomas and Kamara and the league has copied a lot of that.

7. The DAL OL is playing like the group they were drafted and paid to be. Watching them work is pure bliss.

8. I'd sign Dez Bryant if any other WR injuries occur. I'd give him a small set of plays that were mostly psuedo TE routes with jump balls and fades included. But his emotion/joy would be a boost and he'd cost the minimum.

9. Devin Smith is really good. This is one reclamation project that feels like a huge win. And may well take DAL out of R1 WR territory next draft. From Hurns/Austin/Thompson/Rookie Gallup to Cooper/Gallup/Cobb/Smith seems pretty friggin good business by the GM. And it cost an R1 and 3M in free agency? Sheesh.

10. S U P E R B O W L . Yes, that has to be goal now. It is time.

I can't see Dez as an option to ever return to this team. I heard someone bring up a great point the other day. They said Dak now has 'Dak receivers'. Romo had 'Romo receivers', tall, physical guys that could catch fades and 50-50 balls, mainly because their speed and routes didn't gain separation. Dak receivers are quicker, better route runners and better suit what he's looking for. I don't think Dez's game has changed at this point, so I don't think he fits Dak's preferences or strengths.

You’re probably being a bit hard on the Saints. They still managed a strong playoff run last year and were an egregiously blown call away from the Super Bowl. Losing Brees halfway through Q1 yesterday obviously hurt them. Still, I wouldn’t write them off going forward.

Point #2 is spot on. And the 1st thing I seen this morning as I turned on the TV, As the channel was on ESPN. Some goofball saying how the Eagles will still win the NFCE this year.
After the 1st 2 weeks, how can they think that beside hate against Dallas, or homerism to the Iggles.

Not saying it couldn't happen, but based on the 1st 2 games, can't see it.

I would not rest anyone for Miami unless they can't go. On any given Sunday is still true. Take the opposite attitude into the game Sunday and they could lose. After Miami, the hard games begin. They cannot afford to lose a game to a team like Miami because they treated that team with disrespect.

The Saints lost their all-Pro, Hall of Fame QB early in the game. They are still a good team and got screwed out of the NFC championship last year. If Dallas lost Dak, I get their performance would drop off significantly too.

The Cowboys offensive line is better, but I am still having my doubts about Connor Williams.

The Cowboys played 2 bad teams. I love the Cowboys offense this year. Its loaded with weapons and I cannot see how any team can defend against them. But the Cowboys have played 2 bad teams. They have a lot of very good teams still to play, including the Rams, Saints, Patriots, and Eagles twice. Take these games one at a time.

Thing are setting up nicely. I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but...

  • We're at Miami next week who has allowed over 100 pts in their first two games. Good week to rehab Gallup & Woods if their MRI are clean (knock on wood)
  • The Saints are looking to be without Brees if he has to undergo surgery. It still will not be an easy win, but it definitely will not be a difficult.
  • The Packers are always tough, but we have them at home.
  • The Jets are snake-bitten and could potentially still be without Same Darnold.

There's no question that our toughest games are yet to come, although, our early returns are certainly encouraging. The defense is yet to get their legs under them well enough to dominate but with some good players returning and others regaining their health, it'll get better. Offensively, we're surprisingly improved over last season and it should only get better with our youngsters gaining added experience. We'll have one more weak team to get past until things heat up considerably. Anyhow, it's been a great start -- let's savor it and hope for more! ;)

Great Post Sir!! As usual haven't lost your fast ball.
I agree in terms of Zeke's training camp regiment. He'll just need 3-4 games to get into rolling. It's a fair trade off based on his talent Nov and Dec. Zeke is a great cold weather back. But Zeke is also a ticking time bomb.

good advise

2. Philly is old and got hurt exactly as happens to old teams. Makes me wonder why smart football people didn't knock them for it BEFORE the season?
still a good team, but father time never loses.

3. Dak Prescott is better than even I thought but thankfully I wasn't one of the dummies haranguing him because he couldn't make Allen Hurns and Tavon Austin superstars.
He's playing like an MVP

4. Zeke had 100 yards in week 2 after the extended hold out. He never needs another training camp snap again. If a RB body only has so many carries Zeke needs to take zero before week 1 and then slowly ramp up as season wears on. I;m not sure I'd give him more thna 10 carries next week.
I agree a low load early slowly ramping up is wise.

5. NFL tanking has brought us this... A bye week that is not a Bye week. I'm not a coach so can let them worry about complacency and such but the Dolphins are the worst NFL team I have EVER seen. Never look passed a bad team, but yes rest some injuries if you can

6. The Saints haven't been the same since DAL beat them last year. DAL figured out how to handle Thomas and Kamara and the league has copied a lot of that.
Saints were the NFC champs last year but for the worst non-call in NFL history

7. The DAL OL is playing like the group they were drafted and paid to be. Watching them work is pure bliss.
I have stated this before, this line has a chance at being called the best O-Line EVER!

8. I'd sign Dez Bryant if any other WR injuries occur. I'd give him a small set of plays that were mostly psuedo TE routes with jump balls and fades included. But his emotion/joy would be a boost and he'd cost the minimum.
If Gallup is down for a few weeks it may not be a terrible idea, but I highly doubt JJ would do it.

Sheesh.
He certainly isn't bad and the the WR corps has been transformed from below ave to really good in a very short amount of time. Will McClay is a friggin genius!

10. S U P E R B O W L . Yes, that has to be goal now. It is time.
It is every year, the difference is this year we may have a legit shot at it. GO COWBOYS!

97 year old Witten was Romo's best friend and has caught 2 TD passes in 2 weeks.
There is IMHO room for a guy like Dez who has been humbled and has a huge heart to play for this team and get a defined small role that makes the team even more dangerous.
Dez loves the Cowboys and any and all issues aside he can provide you a large body with good hands.
He's lost a lot but is far more athletic than Witten.

Dez can block and he can vreak tackles with just about any WR in football even today.
He's in zero position to demand passes or caught any drama at this point.
It would be lot like adding Witten back ad just mostly a feel good story that allows some nostalgia versus adding a back end WR that will not even be a blip on the radar.

My man, you said you wouldn't rest anyone because "Any given Sunday" then aimmediately pivoted to "haven;t played anyone".

There are a lot of bad football teams in the NFL this year and very few good ones.
Dallas is a good one.
They don't need to risk anyone with health concerns and definitely don't need 20+ carries from Zeke to beat Miami.
You are bringing the guys to the game but you don;t need ot plan on 4 quarters from any of them.
The usual crew of Tyron/Zeke/Martin/Cooper should get rested as score allows.

I still don't get why fans think Dez will sign for cheap for any reason. Even worse y'all even more believe that he will come to the team where he not only wouldn't be a number 1, he wouldn't even crack the top 3. Come on, let it go. Dez is not coming back.

The cowboys don't want him

Dez doesn't want us

It's time to move on

The cowboys already have

I say get a good lead if possible and by the start of the 4th quarter when we are ahead by 30+ points, let Pollard get some game time. Put in the second teamers and let them finish the game.

Since Gallup is out I predict Coop is going to have a really good game.

Witten is averaging 5.7 ypc. He is a viable target inside the 10 yd line, which is perfectly fine. he seems comfortable with his role and is even playing special teams. I don't see any way that Dez's ego would allow him to be the 3rd or 4th option in the passing game. Maybe for a few games, but eventually he would want the ball. Dak and this receiver group looks to have developed some really nice chemistry. Don't mess with it by bringing in a diva.
