You do realize our kicker missed two FGs Sunday, right, including one that should have been a gimme? That's after a season where he ranked 18th in percentage (for any kicker with 20 or more attempts)?

Second, just bringing them in to take a look sends a serious message to Maher even if you don't replace him (yet).

Why don’t they bring in players at every position for tryouts? Send a message to all the backups.

Im sure the team recognizes Maher is not that reliable. When they think the free agent market may have something better they will try out some kickers.

No, let’s have the coaching staff spend half the day watching some scrubs kick the ball around so we can “send a message” to Maher. Then he will start kicking better after that.
