Should be a penalty and a loss of a timeout. But as long as it's tolerated and allowed players will continue to do it. Especially against the boys. The Green Bay game where that one player Smith did it 4 seperate times... Then trots back out on the field fine right after. My gosh, that had me even more livid.

A 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty where the opposing team gets a first down would suffice.

Saw this and said the very exact thing... was just to ice the drive. pathetic and immature BS. NFL knows this crap goes on yet does nothing about it. Another snake team is Green Bay, arod and that bunch live off getting over on the rules... just makes one want to spew chilli chunks, mixed with beer, lots of beer, and peppers, no those wussy type, the really HOT peppers, and ice cream, a scoop or 2.... ok I'm done

Why not force an injured player to miss 3 plays or even 4? Would eliminate this type of thing largely and could be sold as a "safety" initiative.
Try the rest of the quarter and if it happens in the last 2 mins of a quarter he misses the next quarter.

Only problem with that is you'd have to apply it to players that were actually hurt (i.e. wind knocked out of them, slow to get up, etc) too since it would be too difficult to define what's a real and fake injury. It'd be a shame to have a player with the wind knocked out of them being forced to sit for a quarter when they're fine a couple plays later.

We did this a few times when I was coaching and the hurry up offense was a new thing. Not against the rules, so no big deal.

NFL is going to turn into the South American or European soccer with these fake injuries.

This is probably the best way to legislate this foolishness out of the game.
