Problem is, we focus on the wrong things when drafting OL's. After the first couple of rounds, you mostly have a choice of a guy who is really strong or a guy who can block at the 2nd level. Problem is, in the mid rounds you mostly can't get both, and we always opt for the finesse guys, hoping they can get stronger. So, we're left w/ developmental projects who get pushed around. Only time we've done better is when we've drafted 1st rounders who have both traits.

See the thing is now that jerry paid ewok the big money, he wants to get his moneys worth, so it is solely the EE show.

Elliot getting the extension, has made the pollard pick a wasted pick.
Why? because initially they said he would be used as a receiver like dunbar, and a punt returner, because he had
the good speed and big play abilitys.
But then the elliot holdout, and now all that has been swept under the rug in favor of handing off to ewok.
We never saw any of the special plays to pollard.
And it could be also Jason isnt allowing any new plays to the playbook, just changes to the existing plays.

So to me Pollard is now a wasted pick, weber or one of the backs they cut, could be doing what pollard is doing now.
And they could have picked another player instead of Pollard.
Basically they drafted a potentially explosive player, but instead of using him creatively they have neutered him
down to elliots out of breath replacement for a few plays a game.

You could be right that the big paycheck is affecting their use of Elliott and Pollard. Which is very unfortunate. Makes you wonder if JJ has gameplan "suggestions" for Garrett every week.

Ok, well I completely disagree on the value of Zeke. I don't think he has even made much of a difference this year. Last game he finally showed up where he was running hard. Lacks big plays. Definitely not a leader on this team on or off the field. One drunk night away from another suspension. I actually think given the carries, that Pollard could have similar stats with more big plays. I would just be concerned about durability. But go out and sign two more quality backs and done worry about it.

And Zeke needs great Oline play to have great games.

Now if he was Barkely, then I would pay him 15 million.

This guy Jones is impressive, In KC game last nite he was the difference, with 2 catches out of backfield
that he turned into long td runs.
Nobody could catch him.
As we saw against us, he can run thru the line and do the tough running too.
On top of that from what they said last nite , he is also a RKG type guy , no trouble off field, and highly motivated to be the best he can be.
So I for one would rather have him over elliot and it isnt even close.
He is a game changer and capable of big plays.

This is just for fun, as we are stuck with the feed me ewok boy (with the nose rings :thumbdown:)

Ezekial Elliott hands down. Stronger frame and Body less apt to get hurt.

I wouldn't have paid either. But reality is, Zeke is an all-pro. You might not think that being an effective pass-blocking RB is important, "lacks big plays". McFadden couldn't block Thomas Davis which led to Romo's second broken collarbone injury in 2015. He may not be as flashy as Barkley, but he definitely has made a difference this year. Sadly, the offense would be more creative if he wasn't in the lineup. also.. he is always available! Underrated quality.

Like the durability. Price tag is the big issue for me. Would have liked to spend that money elsewhere.

Reality is, Zeke hasn't been an all pro since 2016.

Dont wonder lol he probably insinuates things , and JG then makes sure to move things that direction.
If jerry says to JG or Kellen , well I am paying elliot big money now, so I want to see him get plenty of action,
What effect do you think that would have on them? My guess is they would be inclined to keep jerry happy.
This is just another way jerry meddles.

If jerry says lets get Amari some more targets !! then he gets more targets, so they have to mold a game plan
around what jerry wants , not just what they think would work best.

Definitely, I bet the FO's initial plan was to tag him after his option year, and move on from there. Zeke forced the hand because we had a contender on paper to start the season. Looks silly now staring at 4-3. Only thing to justify decision is if the plan of having him on board brings a ring.

The win loss record when Zeke plays well and when he doesn’t says he is a leader of this team. They go as he goes. Zeke makes this teams run blocking look better than it really is.
