Just a history correction:
"America's Team" originated from a 1978 highlight film narrated by the late great
John Facenda.
Tom Landry hated the name.
When it comes to the Cowboys , you can throw out the record of an opponent. Just like if it was a division game . everyone wants to beat America's Team. When we lose to teams like the Jets. I basically say to myself. I love the Cowboys. I very rarely watch a bad football game. No matter who the opponent is. I know it's going to be a battle. That's why I think we can beat anybody out there. Just as I believe we can lose. When it comes to us Any Given Sunday is more than a cliche. It's life it's reality of being America's Team. I believe this is a playoff Super Bowl caliber team. I just believe we have to get it together at the right time. So when people say to me we don't win beat teams with a winning record. I kind of laugh to myself. Knowing we just played a team that played their best football of the season. Go Cowboys.
The problem with the Cowboys is all within the organization. Everyone is always gunning for the Patriots but they will play a lesser team and jump all over them early. Yeah we know its Brady but if you watch the whole team they hold their emotions in check. They go out and win games and walk off the field like its just another game. The Cowboys are way too emotional up and down. Watching Zeke he gets bottled up early on and then he breaks one run for 10 yards and jumps up with that stupid feed me. And thats even against crappy teams. Garrett gets giddy like a little girl on the sidelines when they take the lead or something good happens. He looks like a little spoiled brat when things arent going his way. I learned a long time ago when involved in competitive sports that its very important to keep your emotions in check because you cant separate them. If you get the highs you will surely get the lows. This is a mental game too. This is exactly why this team got beat by the jets.Every team gets up to play the Cowboys, every team wants to beat the Cowboys. This is no secret to anyone that follows the NFL so it should be no secret to the Cowboys. We know teams will not roll over for us yet we continuously come out flat.
Why the slow starts when we know everyone is gunning for us? What is it going to take for us to maintain that edginess needed to take on the weekly challenge of a motivated opponent? The answer and solution is long overdue.
Go Cowboys![]()
You're right, John facenda is who I was trying to think of when I said Steve sabol.......in any event it was not started by the cowboys organization that so many want to believe...........and I certainly don't blame them for taking advantage of the opportunity to capitalize on it.Just a history correction:

I agree with all of this, except that Dallas is still referred to as America's Team fairly often, so I think most football fans and players know the nickname. They may not take it to heart, but they know it.do you really believe that teams that play Dallas say to themselves, "we have to really bring our best this week because this is "Americas team". Most of the kids playing today probably dont even know that moniker from the 70s still exists and if they do probably just roll their eyes when someone brings it up. If you poll the players they would probably say New England is Americas team because they are in the Super Bowl every year. Teams have up and downs through the season. Teams get up for a game for different reasons and when teams play Dallas, the "Americas Team" reason is so far down the list you probably wont find it.
As far as popularity and the top ratings achiever you would be wrong.............laughing stock? That's a troll reach. We haven't been America's Team in a generation.
We are a laughing stock, and rightfully so.
Bet Your Life on it. Just ask Buddy Ryan

Maybe not a troll reach. Maybe just the words of someone who worries too much about the opinions of others, and sees things that aren't there. As far as popularity and the top ratings achiever you would be wrong.............laughing stock? That's a troll reach.
I had to rush out the door I couldn't give you my full response. I appreciate your opinion your reply. But make no mistake about it my cowboy brother. Like you said the Patriots the Steelers. Don't you think they want to be called America's Team. Make no mistake about it again they get up for us like they don't for other teams where other teams. Super Bowldo you really believe that teams that play Dallas say to themselves, "we have to really bring our best this week because this is "Americas team". I rushed my response. was trying to think. And Buddy Ryan came out LOL. I think it was Andy Reid I was trying to think of they look a lot alikeso you quote a guy that coached 30 years ago when Dallas was a perenial Super Bowl Contender. Do you think Buddy got pumped because Dallas was "Americas Team" or the fact he knew to be a champion he would have to beat the Champs. That was and is the same reason New England gets everybodys best shot now. Every one is a competitor and if you beat the best then you can claim you are the best. It has nothing to do with some Moniker from days gone by.
This is like the third time I gave you a like my cowboy brother. People don't get it. We are America's team and they know itEveryone wants to beat America's team baby!!!!
Comes with the territory..... question is can we handle the heat???
I'm pretty sure if I recall it was a Monday night football game. We're Dandy Don gave us the name. Am I wrong in that statement?Just a history correction:
