America's Team. We always get everyone's best game

This is such a crap mentality and thought. All in all we haven't been relevant in 25 years. The Pats have been killing it for how many years now? You dont think they get everyone's best every week?

True, but what happens when The Goat retires, and the Pats preferential treatment dries up? What will their record be when their opponents go eight straight games without a holding penalty?

I'm pretty sure if I recall it was a Monday night football game. We're Dandy Don gave us the name. Am I wrong in that statement?

I'm not doubting that Meredith said it on MNF.
You're just mistaken on the origin of it.

As someone else stated, the highlight film was changed from
Next Year's Champions to America's Team.

Landry hated it. Tex Schram loved it.

I'm too young to have seen Dandy Don play but I loved listening to
him drive Howard Cosell nuts on MNF... and singing "Turn out the Lights..."

We haven't been America's Team in a generation.

We are a laughing stock, and rightfully so.

You're just too young to know this but the Cowboys were on TV quite often in the 70s.
Long before the NFL Network and Sunday Ticket, even ESPN.

They were called America's Team essentially because they were the game of the week
for more than a decade. So, it's not really about Super Bowls or dynasties.

Not many laughing stocks are sitting atop their division at the midpoint of the season.
None, actually.

I've got news for you:
These Cowboys are a joke to a lot of teams and fans.
They don't fear them at all because they know they tend to self destruct.
As the Giants players said in 2010- the only thing depleted in Dallas is "heart".

If we haven’t been relevant, why are we still covered daily on sports shows? Why does such an irrelevant “laughingstock” still rule the ratings, have the largest fanbase, and remain the most valuable football team in the world? People don’t talk about irrelevant teams.

Which team do you like?

Which team do you like?
I like the Cowboys I grew up with and the Cowboys of the '90's that had integrity and passion.
Jason Garrett has stained the Cowboys franchise and destroyed the integrity;
I stick around hoping he will be fired and the REAL Dallas Cowboys will re-emerge.

I wouldn't say the Eagles played their best against us...or the Giants....or Miami....or even the Saints.

Giants gained over 500yds of offense. They just bogged down at the end of drives (sound familiar?). Dolphins were very efficient in the 1st half and had a great chance to have a lead at half time but they turned it over late.

Two reasons this is true. One, the other teams know this is the ratings magnet and they will get more eyes on them than playing against the majority of other teams. Two, they detest that America's Team label and feel is it unearned in the latter part of the team's history and beating them is not only satisfying, it is deserved because they continue to embrace that label.

Why viewers prefer this team to the one in the city most associated with America's fight for it's freedom and also the team with the most trips and trophies is mystifying. The fact that they have the GOAT at QB and HC is even more mystifying. The Celtics and Yankees built their following and detractors through success, the Cowboys haven't been a success in anything but ratings and revenue in over 20 years. I just don't get it.

When it comes to the Cowboys , you can throw out the record of an opponent. Just like if it was a division game . everyone wants to beat America's Team. When we lose to teams like the Jets. I basically say to myself. I love the Cowboys. I very rarely watch a bad football game. No matter who the opponent is. I know it's going to be a battle. That's why I think we can beat anybody out there. Just as I believe we can lose. When it comes to us Any Given Sunday is more than a cliche. It's life it's reality of being America's Team. I believe this is a playoff Super Bowl caliber team. I just believe we have to get it together at the right time. So when people say to me we don't win beat teams with a winning record. I kind of laugh to myself. Knowing we just played a team that played their best football of the season. Go Cowboys.

not really

why didn’t we “get their best” when Jimmy was coaching?

we get their best effort because even the worst teams know that they have a real chance to win against a Garrett coached team

People tune in to see them lose because Jerry continually does things that make people want to see them get taken down a notch. The Hublot press conference is a prime example.

Never did get to see the Dolphins game, but both those teams have had several games that were much closer in score than when we played them.

Plus pushing himself out there to please his ego. Did you happen to catch the audience reaction in the Emmy's when the Kardashians walked out? That's what he is, only the sports version.

Society has changed, the game has changed.

The fact that we don't usually play the same teams means we could conceivably both get our opponents' best games, just for the sake of argument.

Yeah, you'll know Garrett is on his way out when in his post-game presser he says:

"Well we had a solid gameplan based on extensive film study, but they played harder against us than they do against everyone else."
