Playoffs, none if one and done?

So the choices are one and done or miss the playoffs? I don't like the choices.
Sorry, that's it. I want to know how many are at that point that they don't even want in the playoffs if they can't go all the way. There's nothing wrong with that, SB or bust, and we already have one that feels that way. I know there are more because they've stated that too many times.

One thing the Cowboys do well is draft.

We can't tell the future. I'll take my chances with the playoffs every time.
That's not your option. It is either the season is over after 16 or 17 games, which do you want?

Those are your only two choices, none of that "anything can happen in the playoffs", the choice is simple. End the season after 16 or end it after 17 games?
My choice would be end it after 17 games. Competitive sports and desired defeatism are always a poor combination.

My question would be, what good would come from making the playoffs and losing in the first round, or even winning just one game AGAIN? It would be the SOS, different playoff year. I'd rather this team not make the playoffs and get rid of Garrett once and for all. Enough of this "moral victory" crap...

In the moment, one and done.
Outside the moment, miss the playoffs and get a better draft position.
How's that for a wishy-washy answer? ;)

Something happens to some fans with a team with repetitive behavior and some are purely results driven for the season, it is all about the destination, the journey is inconsequential. And there is no good or bad to it, it's just how you view the season.

If the Cowboys were to make the playoffs, and right now it looks like winning the division is the only way they would, and they were to lose out in that first round, would you rather they didn't make it at all?

Would the disappointment and frustration of that be to the point you'd rather just have the season end after 16 games?

First of all, as a fan, I enjoy the season, even with its ups and downs. Life is too short to be miserable if we don’t win the SB.

Secondly, I’m not sure why people think the only way we can get in is by winning the division. A wild card is clearly in play for us as well.

Third, we are only at the halfway point and we could still end up with a first round bye. While it is improbable appearing at the moment a lot can happen in the second half of the season.

Look at last year at this time. It was a dramatic turn of events. If we beat the Vikings we go to 6 and 3. That would be significant, and we would own the tie breaker on the Vikings. That’s a lot of change in fortune in just ONE week and we would have 7 more games after that.

Take this train it as far as it'll go, baby.
Absolutely. Ultimately this is entertainment, and we should want it to last as long as possible. The deeper they go, the more enjoyable the season, and hope is always more fun than no hope.

Besides that, if a person is unwilling to risk the pain of losing, they have no business being associated with sports anyway. That's the nature of the game, and really the nature of life. You can't take a shot at winning it all - or reaching personal goals in life - without risking the disappointment of falling short. If a person is unwilling to risk that, he cannot accomplish what he wants.

they are going to have to play way better than they have been to make the playoffs
I believe they will make the playoffs. Not only that, but win the division. It's because I am a Homer and I will never change that behavior until the day I die. It's just football.

Just talked to a lady upstairs and she is going through her second round of chemo. What a small slice of the pie foosball is when you look at the grand scheme of things.

That's the sentiment I've seen from quite a few, the all or nothing and while I don't share it, I surely do understand it and see nothing wrong with that approach. I don't see anything wrong with the SB or bust approach either. I try not to define fanhood through my own filter.

I used to watch the Cowboys to watch them win. If they lost, that was poorly invested time. Now, I watch them to see them play, not as invested in the winning part of it and I am not certain that's just an aging process or a conditioning process.

I do know one thing, I watch with fewer expectations of winning than I used to and that Jets game certainly helped that along.

I will always take an additional game, even knowing it would be a loss, to watch my team play. But then I know whatever the outcome of this season has 0 effect on my life. Win it all or miss the playoffs, in the grand scheme, this just doesn't matter in real life. And in a twisted sort of way, this place is a hell of a lot more fun when they're not playing well and falling on their butts. Posters be funny when they're mad.

No of course not. Once you make the playoffs it’sa new season and anything can happen.

If you were guaranteed a losing result either way (via missing the playoffs completely or wildcard exit) then you miss the playoffs and it's not even close. I'm not involved with the Cowboys business so the financial gains at AT&T Stadium of hosting one playoff game doesn't mean anything to me. Miss the playoffs and get the higher draft pick.

The premise of this thread is precisely why I have the "Go Seahawks" stuck on my profile. Last year it seemed as though Cowboys fans were disappointed the team made the playoffs instead of getting a better draft pick because they figured we had no chance to win. I'm like, just root for the Seahawks then. Hell, anyone wanting to miss the playoffs instead of making them should actually be rooting for us to lose every game so we get an even better draft spot.

Definitely take the playoffs. Consider it "part of the process" and "something to build upon" going into the following season.

This team has had that before, more than once in the last 22 years. NEVER has resulted in going farther the next year, or the year after. All they do is get to 10 wins due to having a poor record the year before, then follow that up with failure the next year.

Sick of "we're getting better", I want rings....
