Jason Garrett’s “it’s not my fault” mentality of blame permeates through the entire organization.

Sorry, but thats BS. You are still finding a way to blame JG on this. When this was clearly on the ST coach and then he lied about it on top of it all. This is the type of thing that will turn players against coaches in a heart beat.

Not to be nit-picky but it was 20 yards to the nearest Viking, 15 yards to the nearest play who was a Cowboy. But let's say Austin is able to return this down the left sideline. There are lots of blockers in front of him. I'd say he has a better than even chance to get at least to the 20 yard line. Can we assume there would be no holding of block in the back calls? The Cowboys have burned a lot of good returns with penalties like that. But lets assume they manage to stay clean. How much time would be left on the clock? Maybe 12 seconds at most? Probably 10. They would have two tries to get the ball into the end zone, assuming Moore didn't try to hand it off to Zeke! I like the Cowboys chances from the 20 with 2 plays a lot better than their own 45 with 3 plays, but its still a really, really long shot. So much could go wrong. A sack could end the game for example.

The coaches lying about what they told Austin is really bad and threatens to blow up the locker room. But the game was lost on the last Cowboys drive. Its that simple.
Nick Eatman brought up this point on The Break. He said even if Tavon returned it, knowing how snake bit this team is and how mistake-prone they are he pretty much guaranteed there would have been a block in the back on the return. He said it's sad we don't even have the confidence to return a kick because of these constant penalties on special teams.

The mistake is asking a dummy like Tavon to analyze a situation and make an intelligent decision. If you are gonna have guys like that on your team you gotta know how to treat them. What kind of a moron calls for a fair catch in that situation and them refuses to take any accountability. What a useless POS.

The Cowboys haven't had good special teams since Joe Avazano was special teams coach! The Cowboys used to block punts have an awesome return game (of course having Deon helped) but now it's so damn vanilla!

this is not true, they were good under wade phillips and Bill Parcells and in rich bisaccia's time here under garrett.

they are just really bad this year.

What if anybody fumbles ever? Do you not kick field goals because the kicker could miss?

I know but this is what you would be looking at if Austin returns and fumbles then everyone would have said..........Austin should have made the fair catch and there still would have been time on the clock for a couple of plays. It's just the nature of the beast in Dallas!

When Garrett first threw Austin under the bus, I knew this was going to create an issue with the players.

Head coach should publicly take blame and privately address the situation.
Yeah you don't do this to a veteran player who happens to be pretty popular in the locker room and around the league. A lot of players grew up idolizing Tavon because of his "mixtapes" in college.

Keith O'Quinn has been with the franchise in some capacity for about the last decade. Yet another coach they are comfortable keeping around even though he sucks at his job. This staff is full of them.
Wasn't he another one of those experimental hires that Jerry and Jason are fond of?

I believe his role for years was to prepare play books for coaches on game day.
