Scary Hypothetical

This team went on a 7-1 last year after starting 3-5.

What if all the angst and heat they are facing after this last L causes them to circle the wagons and get right?

What is they go 7-0 down the stretch and finish 12-4 and win the NFCE and lose in the divisional round again?

We would be stuck with Garrett and still have nothing to show for anything in the post-season

I realize they would have to beat the Pats— but it would be wild if it played out like this. Would be a nightmare scenario for sure.

Just my opinion, but even if they did that, and as you said lost again in the divisional round, I think Garrett would be gone. He needs to do better than he did last year, when he also didn't earn himself an extension from Jerry.

If they went 7-0 it would be fantastic.

Lions, Bears, and Commanders, I think we can beat.
Rams and Eagles could go either way. Patriots will be a massacre.
Lions game should be interesting this Sunday.

Lions (3-5-1)
Patriots (8-1)
Bills (6-3)
Bears (4-5)
Rams (5-4)
Eagles (5-4)
Commanders (1-8)

If this season doesn't result in at the very least making a Conference Championship game appearance JG needs to be canned. Along with O'Quinn and Polk.

Since I highly doubt we get past the 1st round, I'd get it over with ASAP.

I don't think we need to worry about that hypothetical. If the Cowboys don't beat the Lions on Sunday, I can see a 5 game losing streak. I see no way in hell they beat NE (that's 3 in a row), beating the Bills is iffy and I don't think they beat the Bears in Chicago in December. My best case scenario for the season is 8-8.

Everyone has always said the redheaded clapper never loses the team. After this week, we might start seeing that if they don't start winning a lot.

Come on?? Are we seriously having this discussion? This team is not capable of putting two wins together.
No disciple. Football players yearn to be led, but we have a buffoon as our coach and the ultimate man responsible is Jerry. We will get to our requisite of 8 wins and somehow be mathematically eligible to win the division.
Jerry will collect his millions and move on. Jerry does not care about winning the SB. He just wants the Cowboys to be in the news. Any news is good news.
I have gotten a new perspective on watching the Cowboys. It's all a show. WWE of professional sports.
Every game has the same pattern. You get the blank looking coach on the sideline, you get plastic face Jerry in the owners box. Dak's emergence, a mention of how great the stadium, you know they have an art gallery there.
The team has become the face of the corporate NFL. As long as Ford, Pepsi & ED advertisers are interested we are good.
Jerry does not care

They started out 3-5 last year because the geniuses in the front office decided that they could go into the season with Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson at WR. Acquiring an elite WR like Cooper changed everything and they were able to surprise teams in the 2nd half of the season.

There is no surprise this year, the roster is set and there's nothing Garrett can do. It's not like he will "coach them up"

I can see them losing 4 of the last 7 but also they can win 4 of the last 7. But if somehow they can beat the Eagles and make it 5 of the last 7. As that would be the deciding game anyway of the division.

Because I can see the Eagles doing the same thing. Sure their schedule looks easier. But if they lose to the Patriots and Seahawks, and to us. That puts them at 9-7.
We just need to beat them, and 3 other games, which we have winnable games. Detroit, Buffalo, Washington. And with the way the Rams look, can we have a chance there since it is at home. Right now, no.

Beat Lions, Bills, Bears, Commanders, or 3 of the 4 it still comes down to beating the Eagles. Eagles must lose 2 other games plus lose against us.
That is off the top of my head though. But we would hold the tie breaker.

Right now, I say they will be lucky to win 3 games though.

See, I look at ole clap and what should be stewing in him is winning these games upcoming, Take the Rams, last year a 2 year coach blew his bunch up and ran over them, THAT alone should have ole clap pre planning for a turn around and giving them some of what they handed him. Trouble is, Clapper is a nice guy, a soft heart if you will, he has no animosity at being EMBARRASSED to hell in a NFCC game, naw it'll be more of the same lip chatter we've all endured with this clown now 9 seasons... beating the Pats should be top of the list, just to show he isn't a total failure, and the Rams would be a cherry on top. I just have NO confidence he can get close to being pissed off enough to hammer these guys into winning any of these 7 remaining games. You just KNOW he has heard all the fan base screaming for his head, I guess it'll take us lighting up torches and strapping on pitch forks to make him understand, ALOT of us are done with his lack luster coaching style.

Lol.

I don’t think we will have to worry about that. And if we don’t make it further than we did last year then staff will lose there jobs. And unless JG can throw someone under the bus that’s believable then he will lose his job. He could have used Marinelli last year if he wanted to.

I hope you’re right. If by some miracle they do win 7 straight, I could see JJ being “proud of his boys and how they fought” and that clearly only a genius HC could lead a team back from the brink like that (2 years in a row!!)

This team isn't going anywhere, so this hypothetical is but a mere sky high dream for Garrett.

It feels that way now... but what if they come out and play well vs the Lions and get to 6-4. Philly loses to NE to fall to 5-5.

Sua Filo helps stabilize the ground game in Williams’ absence— and the offense unleashes RPO Dak and takes a page out of Baltimores playbook against NE— and they stun the world with a win against Brady and Bill. They would be 7-4 and the confidence would be sky high

If they beat the Pats— who could they not beat? They then beat the Bills at home for Turkey Day riding the wave off of NE— get a long rest before beating an average Chi team— they would then be 9-4.

Scary— improbable— yes. Inpossible? No
