is this the first game all year where we can truly say Cowboys properly exploited Pollards skills, finally made a true effort to better utilize his play making ability on the field ?

what took this coaching staff so freaking loooong !!

we finally saw him on display as both a runner and a receiver out of the backfield, we saw him and zeke BOTH on the field at same time, while Pollard also making plays out of the jet sweep plays ( much rather have pollard doing that vs Tavon Austin)

Moore and this coachigng staff could have long been doing this instead of waiting until 10 game of the season - they should have had this Pollard scheme planned out at the start. Geeez

Better late than never ... but you never know if Pollard's play making skills could have affected the outcome in games such as Jets, Vikes or Saints if the coaches had long better prepared, developed and schemed Pollard in the earlier going.

I count 9 touches for Pollard in the Lions game.

His to 4 games in terms of touches:
16
13
9 - Lions
8

Pollard and Zeke have been on the field together multiple times this season.

Prior to the Lions game, his top 5 games in terms of percent of offensive snaps played were the 5 wins.

The snap count is not out yet, but it appears he will be 6 for 6...

Yeah, I just hope they stick with it and not try to overthink themselves.

They’re so bad at abandoning what’s working
And they add the rare combination of sticking with what isn’t working. It’s almost like they’re messing with us.

logically, it's hard to justify making changes to the running game when you have a player like zeke. but Kellen has finally figured out he has to tweak things. every team is concentrating on stopping zeke. but dak has stepped it up and Kellen's getting more creative. still think we need to change our run blocking schemes. they've become very predictable.

Stands to reason with this "coach"... draft a CB and play him at safety, draft a tackle and play him at guard, draft a safety and play him at corner, draft a guard and play him at tackle...makes you pound your head on the desk top...

After he scored they benched him again. We need to quit giving Zeke the nod until he starts earning it again. TP looks better and needs to be more involved.

I had thought about that too, are the blocking schemes so simple and predictable that teams can easily counter scheme against us ? has anything been taken away from the 2016 run scheme
when we had so much trapping and pulling in the zone- stretch blocks.. or is the OL unit tipping their cards in how they stance ?

I've heard opposing defensive players say that it used to be difficult to get a clue on the Cowboys tendency through their OL, because they set the same stance on every play and series,
couldn't tell by their OL, if it was going to be run or pass.
I know it's harder to get edge/outside runs with the poor blocking of TEs,..it would really help to establish that strong James Hanna type in-line blocker role again.
but I do noticed that Pollard seems to have some success knifing through cracks and lanes for his positive yards but I don't see it as much with zeke.

i'm really just dart-guessing at it ,but I wonder if our run scheme is more geared towards pounding the ball than setting up ways to stretch and slant the line and open sudden holes for sprint runs.

But overall between zeke and the OL, and the TEs, it's doesn't seem to design to spring the big runs anymore.

this Garrett staff is/ and has always been infatuated with the " Flex " style position; that's fine with your backups as you need to create depth and have versatile guys that can spread out
on your game day active roster. but there's a question in doing that with your starters.

Cowboys are 6-0 when Pollard plays 10+ offensive snaps and 0-4 when he plays less than 10 offensive snaps.....

I wonder how many took noticed that Pollard even lined up as a WR, (instead of RB) when he ran that crossing route on ran thru traffic... on his way to his TD score.
Now that's what i'm freakin' talking about !

this Lions game is the 2nd best effort by the coaching staff in using and exploiting Pollard's ability since the Miami dolphins when Pollard compiled 103 rushing yds,on just 13 carries
.. but after that, for whatever reason, Pollard touches and involvement just seem to fade off.

maybe its just me, but I think that was about Kellen Moore's inexperience himself and still in a growing, learning process as a OC play caller.
the more Pollard is schemed to be on the field, even if he's lined up in same backfield as zeke, and he's moved around in a role where he can display his run or receiving skills
whether jet-sweeps, quick screen passes (something we used to spring zeke for quick big splash plays) or wheel routes or he's spelling zeke as a runner in those every 3rd series,
we need to be developing him and trying to exploit him; i'd even sub him and give him more snaps vs Tavon Austin in these "gimmick" plays.

If it takes " gimmick" plays where Pollard can be used as that extra WR in the pass game, then so be it .. let's use him in that sense. how many LBs are gonna really run with him with that
kind of formation and open field ? Use more of Pollard....and less of Tavon if that what it takes.
