Jerry Jones is looking at Sunday’s matchup against New England as a measuring stick game for his 6-4 Cowboys. “This isn’t just my town against your town. It’s obviously a big one for us in how we make our way to the playoffs, so everything you play football for is riding there against New England and the challenge is with us,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “I think it’s an opportunity to take a step up in the opinion of it, not only from within but without.”

The first sentence is very un-Jerry like coherent.

"I think it’s an opportunity to take a step up in the opinion of it, not only from within but without.”

If it wasn't so wordy that would make a great t-shirt.

Picture the Cowboys logo as the background. Sweet.

even better, these words bouncing off sky mirror and forming above the stadium in the shape of clouds.

from the man who brought us "where we live today, Sports"

To me Jerry is indirectly telling Jason Garrett this game is the difference between your getting another contract or coming to the end of your Cowboys coaching career.

While the Pats, imho, are on their "last legs" as far as their run of being the top team in the NFL, as far as being considered EVERY YEAR as one of the favorites to win it all, they are STILL the measuring stick for determining how good you are, if you consider yourself to be a contender for the ring.

Win, and you, (if you're a good team, I'm not talking about some freak game the Pats lost because they didn't take their opponent seriously or just simply had a bad game) stamp yourself as a team that needs to be given serious consideration for the title.

Lose, and you're "not ready for prime time".

I expect a Cowboys beat down, like 35-13, but if there's one thing about the NFL, the saying "on any Sunday" is certainly true. Wouldn't be TOO surprised if Dallas won, but it would still be considered an upset, at least to me....

Wow .......
This guy is an idiotic snake oil salesmen.

I wonder if he even knows what the truth looks like anymore.

Is it me or has Jerry been very blunt about the playoff success he expects to see this year?

As diplomatically as he can in Jerry-speak, but yes I think so too.

Garrett makes the NFC Championship Game or Jerry makes a change. Seems clear.

And what is also clear is that Jerry certainly expected a better record than this. And now this is one that he expects Garrett and the team to 'make up' for in the win column.
