After news reports that Gregory would file for reinstatement, we've heard pretty much nothing about him. I think at this point we have to assume he is not coming back in 2019. I suppose that would mean any return would be unlikely and Gregory's troubled career is over.

I have searched the web for news and there really isn't any, just some speculation. Gregory was just starting to look like a good player in 2018 when he was suspended again.

I find it hard to believe that Gregory's only problem is he can't stop smoking weed. There has to be more to it. Gregory was suspended for a year in 2017 for smoking weed, the same suspension Myles Garrett got for ripping the helmet off another player and trying to bash his skull in with it? Albert Haynesworth, who was also a troubled player, got two games for stomping on the helmetless head of Andre Gurode. As I recall, that wasn't his first run-in with the rules either.

I am assuming Gregory will never play another down for the Cowboys. But I would love to know what the problem is and why the Cowboys missed it when they drafted him thinking they outsmarted the rest of the league.

Lesson learned. You never take a chance on a person that has a substance abuse issue. It's an addiction. Injuries and attitudes can all be remedied, but addictions are hard to deal with. Gregory is a great talent but where is he? I too have to think it's more than weed.

I think Randy has the same attitude Ricky Williams had. Football isn't important enough for him to quit smoking weed. Whether that's a preference, an addiction, or a treatment doesn't matter...Weed wins.

It's been reported he has a mental condition (bi-polar?) which he manages with marijuana. It's why the team hasn't given up on him. This isn't a normal lazy player situation. He's got issues

I think about David Irving and Randy Gregory and what they can could have accomplished had committed to playing in the NFL and adhering to the drug policy.

They had all the physical talent but I guess it's true what Samual Jackson's character said in the Tarantino movie Jackie Brown. Weed will rob you of your ambition.

Same with Irving. Imagine how good the defense will be if we had Irving and Gregory added to the dline. David Irving was a beast at DT.

BS. I've never done drugs, other than alcohol. But, I've had plenty of coaches and players that have had issues with it. You dont quit on them unless you're a holy roller or just a perfect person that would never have a loved one go through those issues.

personally I’m happy for Irving

I don’t think he liked football as much as you want him to.

here’s to a guy smart enough to not destroy his body in a sport he didn’t love.

this is exactly what I was thinking. The bi polar issue is pretty bad alone and then combined with a weed addiction I would say pretty much ends t hi rings for him.

Well it depends.....at some point in the near future I think the NFL will have to rethink how they handle guys smoking weed.

Treating bipolar disorder with marijuana would be a pretty dumb thing to do as many of the symptoms associated with the disorder would only be made worse by the affects of smoking.

Randy Gregory needs serious help.

He has some type of mental disorder (anxiety or depression or bi-polar, etc..).

I watched an episode of the Amazon Original Series "Modern Love" with my girlfriend this week.

It is season 1, episode 3 with Anne Hathaway as a woman that is Bi-Polar.

I thought that it was a great depiction of someone that in many aspects is very normal, except the Bi-Polar condition (unless properly medicated) does not allow her to function as a "normal" person.

Someone in my family has a similar issue; therefore, I've seen how it affects people.

I'm not saying that Gregory is Bi-Polar, just that it is interesting to see a depiction of someone with a mental disorder that is NOT crazy per se.
