You witness a bank robbery. The man runs outside and is going to donate the money to an orphanage that had been struggling to survive. If you report robber, he will go to prison and the money will be returned. Orphans may have to go hungry and lose their place to sleep. What do you do?

A) Report him

B) Do nothing

C) Ask for the money in return for not reporting him

D) Ask for half the money for yourself and that he donate the other half to the orphanage.

E) Threaten to report him unless he donates to the charity of your choice

F) Kill the robber and take the money for yourself, then flip off the orphanage as you leave.

F of course. :D

In cases like this, morality is subjective and relative to the point of view you are seeing.

The money he stole from the bank could have been money from 20 other orphanages and now they starve and lose their home...

Report him after the orphanage spends the money. Bank money is federally insured...orphanage saved, bank gets their money back and guy does his time. I guess the IRS/Dept of Commerce (?) would want their money back.

Fine...report him, I guess.

A - Report him
B - Then call this number https://www.childrensshelter.org/

Assume he is Robin Hood and ask to join his band of Merry Men because they'd be more fun to be around, being merry and all, than this board after a loss. I would also ask if I could be Friar CouchCoach because he made the hooch and was the keeper of it and the main reason they were merry.

Was this armed robbery where he threatened some innocent bank teller or is she a former orphan herself from that very orphanage and the Inside Woman on this caper? This sounds like a wonderful Hallmark Christmas story. I can just hear one of the little orphans yelling "God bless us everyone".

I had assumed it was an ordinary bank robbery where some jerk just sticks a gun in their face and demands money, but your version of having the teller an ex-orphan who's in on it is brilliant. Make that movie. I would watch it.

A.

Violence to improve society is not the answer.

You don't say if he was the robber was armed or if anyone was hurt.
Just curious if it changes anyones mind.

Btw, All deposits in banks are insured and most hard currency no longer resides in actual banks.

Fwiw

Was the bank incredibly corrupt, and foreclosing on every orphanage and shelter it could swindle into a bizarre loan....so it could tear them down, sell to their crooked real estate buds and build strip malls?

Does the orphanage have pedofiles running it?

So many scenarios....

Ok, Ive had a couple of drinks

I'd like to think that I'd try to talk the robber into reporting himself. But, he'd probably shoot me and then drive off.

B- do nothing. If he can truly get away with it and the orphans get their cash, good for them. Of course that wouldn’t really work.

The robber was armed with a 9 mm handgun, but no one was injured. No pedos are running the orphanage, just normal decent people. The bank is an ordinary mid-size town bank that is not very corrupt and has never foreclosed on an orphanage. The most corrupt thing it's ever done is its president cheated on his homely wife in the vault with one of his hot tellers in a consensual affair.
