Meyer was reportedly the guy USC wanted as its next HC, today USC announces out of nowhere Helton will be brought back. A little head scratching if you ask me.

JUst speculation on my part but maybe Meyer told them no to keep him available for the Dallas job?

He might not want the USC job. Cowherd had a good breakdown of why it might not be that great a job right now

I don't watch much college football, could people tell me if he's old fashioned? Or will he adapt to different situations? I've heard he's an excellent recruiter but that's pointless in nfl, and that he's not as much an x and o's guy. Is that wrong?

Didn't the USC President tell the AD he could not hire Urban Meyer?
doesnt matter who in any position administration didnt want Meyer. The boosters wanted Meyer, and if you know USC and UCLA football you know thats who controls sports in these schools

He's a offensive guy. Runs his offense out of the spread. Kinda like how the rams and Saints run theirs. Getting their players in space through design.

Of course he’s going to wait to talk with Jerry...if he hasn’t already. He really was honest in that interview a couple months ago,and put it out there. Dallas is the one NFL team he said you must take a call from....you must explore that if FO.

Doesn't Meyer still have cyst on his brain that gives him constant headaches?

Ii know he used to. Not sure if anything has changed as far the headaches go.

He doesn’t appear old fashioned. He has changed his offense to suit the players around him and has shown he can win with different types of QBs. Belichick studied his spread offense while at Florida because it was unstoppable. He started as a special teams coach then D coordinator. So he knows the entire game.

Look at his take on studying other coaches and how their physical position during kicks determines his approach. https://footballscoop.com/news/urba...ehavior-of-an-opponents-head-coach-heres-why/

Wherever he goes. He wins and very rarely loses. Bowling Green. Utah. Florida. Ohio st.

WITH MEYER, you take the good with the bad. The good part is, he gets the team over the hump instantly as a proven winner and leader. DOWNSIDE or the bad...he will quit right after about 2-3 years. If we are ok with that prospect...then its a good hire.I would be more interested in who his coaching staff would be.

Any coach out there would covet this job
In the end the choice may come out of left field.
Similar to Parcells.
This is gonna be fun
