You think it's coaching, but it's deeper than that

Why do people disaffiliate the Garrettt culture from this organization, when Jim was a right-hand man for over 20 years and there is a video dedicated to him on the Dallas Cowboys official web-site? His father is the reason all the Garrett’s ended up here in the first place.

3.- out game-planned
4.- playbook deficiency
5.- locker room drama

It is coaching. This is an alarming thing brought up over the years that JG supporters say isn’t true but..well it is

Since JG doesn't help the team schematically on offense or defense, that leaves clock management and in-game adjustments as two of his core responsibilities.

Great tweet that shows how atrocious he is at the latter.

-Most penalized team in the league
-Worst avg starting field position in the league
-Most dropped passes in the league
-Defense can't tackle very well
-Defense is having a very tough time with dual threat QBs
-Maher has a very difficult time with 35-50 yard field goals and has costed us at least 2 games
-Jones is the 34th ranked punter (there's 32 teams in the league folks)
-None of the players seem to engage with each other on the sideline anymore (last year they looked like they were having fun and a tight group... even though we started 3-5)

I could go on and on, but I'm just beyond frustrated. Also, Urban Meyer is not the answer in my opinion, that guy has quit on every team he's ever coached for... I don't want that guy near this franchise.

Also, this team needs major upgrades at DT and the Safety positions, or they'll never be more than an average or slightly above average team.

Its all coaching. Parcells took a loser 5 win team and with few changes they won 10 games the following season.

I think Garrett needs to go but a lot of you are drinking too much of the “Talent Kool Aid” and will be in for a rude awakening when we get a new coach and we have a lot of the same problems from the same players.
We have like 20 free agents

I don't get the disdain for Urban

Yeah he quit after 6-7 years at Florida and Ohio State. After winning a couple championships

What's wrong with that? By that logic Jimmy is a guy we wouldn't want coaching the Cowboys

Blame the coaches all you want, but I think this team just has a low football IQ & all the talent in the world won't overcome that.

For example: last night the Cowboys committed 3 pentalities on 3rd down, one of them would've ended in a punt, one of them would've ended up in a 35-40 yard FG attempt... Both ended up being touchdowns. You can be the best coach in the world but you can't stop your $100m DE from jumping offsides and Awuzie from grabbing the WRs under shirt - I don't give a **** who's coaching this team, its THOSE kind of mistakes & Maher's FG misses that has cost us these close games ALL SEASON!!!!!!!!!

I'm telling you guys that you're wrong about Garrett, but we absolutely need a new defensive coordinator and scheme - the Marinelli/Richard thing isn't working. I don't care if we keep Garrett or not, but Marinelli/Richard/Maher better be gone or this team isn't going anywhere.

It wasn't Awuzie who grabbed the receivers shirt, it was Woods, but I get the point and I agree with what you are saying. Its a dumb team that does dumb things and they can;t overcome their stupidity with raw talent.

I also agree that the Marinelli/Richard tandem isn't working. They need one guy with one scheme to be in charge.

Nice job outlining coaching issues. Thread title needs fixing. Lol
If these were 10 year old kids I would agree with you, but these are grown *** men that aren't executing and making costly pentalities at the worst times. We'll see what happens when there is a coaching change, I guarantee it won't make a difference (unless we're making a change at defensive coordinator and he improves the scheme and tackling)

Tons of guys play sloppy outside the Patriots, and then suddenly have good fundamentals. Or leave New England and turn into JAGs. Jamie Collins in Cleveland was a slob. Jame Collins back in New England is suddenly sharp as a tack. It's all coaching, even pros lose focus on fundamentals if they aren't relentlessly drilled.

And just out of curiosity, where does the impulse to defend Garrett even come from? This has been a team of underachieving moron slobs high on their own supply for his entire tenure.

Yes talent is under performing and some are over rated. Im not certain to what extent.

Ive seen this before though, and its nearly impossible to evaluate when the walls are crumbling around them. The first step is to turn over the staff and let the new coaches evaluate the roster.

This team is a mess right now.

Good post add this-

In FIVE seasons we have come back from a halftime deficit FOUR times.

This is the ultimate indictment on the lack of halftime adjustments.

Sorry. Over the last 23 years they keep changing out the coaches and players. And still they fail. And by fail, I mean at least reach a NFCCG within that amount of time. Although it should probably be more than just one.

It's the Owner and GM. The Owner and GM is the only thing that's been consistent over the last 23 years.

So that must be the problem.

It's elementary.

it's above coaching.

There is only 1 person in this organization that has the power/authority to fire and hire a coach or player. He decided to go young/inexperienced at coaching positions TE, OL, OC,ST, LB, etc. He decides when a coach gets fired even if/when they are under performing. same with players. Every player knows you just have to do well for 1-2 years then Jerry will reward past production and not current production. if they stop performing, or don't coach to the level we need then it's ok as none of their jobs are really in jeopardy.

Pre Parcells between 96 and 2002 the team was not well run at all. The coaching hires were moronic too say the least. That's on top of poor drafts, trades etc... After Parcells Jerry hires Garrett and then Phillips LOL Just another ridiculous decision. But I have no doubt a better coach can win here. Game management just flat out sucks. Unprepared and out coached on a regular basis. Jerry isn't doing that. More talent here than some teams and yet it's the same garbage. Hire crap coaches and there is no consistency. So he made a competent decision 4 out of the 23 years. we'll see where he goes in 2020, but Garretts a joke and Jerry either learned that over the past 13 seasons.. or the stupidity will just continue.

Can anyone here tell me exactly what does Jason Garrett do, and what would replacing him do to improve this team?

I'm not looking for your low IQ two word stupid *** answers that most of you like to give.
