There was a John Wayne film where he was with the cavalry dealing with the Indians. He was sent to strike a deal with the Chief to make peace. Evidently the cavalry had pushed them too far.

John Wayne's name in this film is Nathan. However the Chief called him Naton. Pronounced Nat Ton.

When John Wayne went back to the chief to make this peace the Chief said, "Too late, Nay Ton."

My dad used to say that to me when I was supposed to do something like cut the grass, but went and played baseball with my friends. Too Late Nay Ton.

Never understood it until a few years ago when I saw that film.

After reading all the comments by Garrett, all it makes me think of is, "Too late, Nay Ton."

Random, obscure reference.

Follow up question :

"WHY didn't we play well ? "

Why are players loafing ?

Why are we punting so much ?

Why ...

My Dad used to have a term for Garrett's comments. He called it "coach's speak." The typical canned response when a coach really has no answer to his team sucking. Garrett was out of answers years ago.
Coach's Speak sometimes needs to be canned for some real honesty.
Even if said coach has to put their own head under the sword because they realize that they didn't put their talent in enough positions to win the game.
Especially when they have the more talented team...
Think about that.

Sometimes you have to say, "We didn't put guys in the right place and we didn't adjust. Why? I guess we, as a staff, need to do some soul searching for that answer as fast as we can because we have another game coming up.".

You play well in garbage time and Brett thinks he kicked well. Gonna sleep like a baby. lol

Don't like hearing it but kickers have to have that mentality. Bailey lost it a while back after a few misses. It is perhaps the position where your mental state is the most important

It’s all part of the master plan.. Lose by just a few points to give the illusion of, “Trying to win.”

Even within some kind of context of the statement, he still doesn't make any sense and continues to constantly ramble jibberish. Just like his boss. Times up JG.

Does anybody really care what this clapping idiot says?
No

He been giving the same tired answers since the beginning.
I used to call him a well educated Uncle Wade..........must apologize to Wade - at least he's a good D coordinator

If we do not find a way to get rid of Jason Garrett it will be the undeniable end of the Dallas Cowboys. He HAS To go. What an a55hat for all the stupid excuses via Twitter. That's not man talk. That's not winners talk. It's just splitting hairs trying to reduce the impact, and trying to come across as a leader. Notice he always uses the term "we" as if "he" and the "other" deciders are highly evaluating players and men to "decide" if they "fit" into the scheme. This is a joke.

GET RID OF JASON GARRETT. GET HIM THE F OUT OF DALLAS. FOREVER.

He looked like a lifeless zombie on the sideline, I was actually hoping He'd start clapping, just for a sign of life, but it was a shellshocked 1000 yard stare all game.

You will NEVER and I mean NEVER hear Belicheck say "are there guys loafing out there, sure, that happens every week".

I saw the RB for the Patriots fumble a couple of weeks ago and he was sitting on the bench crying while Hoodie gave him the death stare.

That is why the Pats play for ring every dam year and Clappy and his trash team are the jokes of the league.
