No thanks on Urban Meyer. He’s a side show coach, always with the health, and other bs. I don’t like the fact that he always had the most talent and won. Talent is even for the most part in NFL.

give me Matt Rhule over Urban or Riley

The one thing I would say about a Meyer hire (pun intended) is that I don't believe Meyer would accept the puppet strings. But I do worry about his health. I still don't understand him walking away from OSU with a loaded cupboard if he planned to coach again.

We will have a coach as soon as the season is over. The Clemson OC is our minority candidate. I think the Jones family suck as GMs but they seem to be going about the hiring process the right way if the rumors are true.

Yeah, he might be one of those wimpy Yes Men. Like Bill Parcells.

The thing with Urban is that he doesn't tolerate losing. I'm not sure he would have the patience to struggle here for a few years while he remade the roster and culture around the team. In college, change can happen as fast one recruiting season. In the NFL, its much harder to build and sustain a team.

I think he stepped down for the higher good for the overall program going forward. There where some other circumstances there. But not nearly as bad as many want to make it out to be.

Some coaches need a break after so many years, and I think Meyer is one of them. Kind of like Jimmy Johnson, always wins, but never stays longer than 5 years.
Now Meyer has stayed longer than Jimmy. But even if he stayed 5 years here, he would leave a coaching staff in place and groom his successor.

Jerry isn't going to give up his wubby. Think about it - Jerry cried for him on national TV and cussed out the hosts 105.3 radio. Jerry is getting EXTREMELY defensive in regards to Garrett, and it would seem he's trying to make excuses to keep him. Heck, he already has the perfect scapegoat in Moore.

Urban only has health issues affect him when **** hits the fan. So if you hear rumors of any issues well hes thinking of quitting lol

I'd be good with that, and honestly see it as a plus. That means that Jerry would be back to meddling and Meyer is a strong enough coach not to accept that meddling and walk away, unlike the guy who's content being Jones lapdog, as long as the checks clear.

He wanted to step away from the constant criticism and questioning he would have received over the Zack Smith domestic assault incident. Besides, I believe had he not stepped away, he was going to be fired because it was discovered he lied (or threw his wife under the bus). He had too much negative PR around him to stay at OSU.
I'll reserve judgment on the moral part of his legacy, but I think the health issues, while real, weren't really that significant to whether he stepped away. I think he uses it as an excuse. If they were REALLY significant, he wouldn't be courting the Cowboys or USC for that matter (before the Cowboys stepped into the picture).
About the only place he was going to go on the college level was USC or Notre Dame. But the Cowboys … we'll they're legendary.
