there are 7 defensive coaches.

why the KR hate? He’s the best coach we have on the defense.

That is not saying very much.

It’s just blind hate.

Ah. There it is. The cover all statement of "hate". Don't like what someone says and have no intellectual retort?

"Hater!". Just the absolute worst. I could say you were just some mindless shill for him, but notice I am not cheapening my argument that way.

Marinelli is the DC. It’s his scheme that’s busted.
So if is all Marinelli, tell me again what Richard has done to earn such doglike devotion?

Yell a lot? Look animated? Certainly can't be getting the most out of this secondary and getting turnovers.

you didn’t see KR running this stinking scheme for the SHawks.
Well no, because Pete Carroll got rid of him.

Hello my Canadian friend. Sometimes you have to put the stats down and just use your eyes. We stink.
This offense can win you a super bowl, this defense cannot.:omg:
You also have to look at who you’re playing. The Bears offense is awful and the Bills offense is not some juggernaut. They even got smoked by the lowly Jets offense.

OP could not be more misinformed. On the contrary - the defense is far worse than most think. Traditional stats show them ranked 10th in Y/G, 8th in pass Y/G, 17th in rush Y/G, 11th in Pts/G. Advanced stats however (DVOA), show them 20th overall defensive DVOA, 23rd rush defense DVOA, 17th pass defense DVOA. The advanced stats are all prior to the Bears game - they will drop even more significantly after that awful performance.

The offense for reference is 2nd overall, 4th pass offense, 3rd rushing. The ST, for reference, is 32nd in DVOA.

The team's problems are with defense and especially ST. The offense isn't even on the long list of issues at this point. Misinformed and weak thread.

You can shoot me down.. and that is ok but D hasn't been as manifestly bad as most are claiming. Do we miss waaaay too many tackles.. yes. Is our run defence on the outside porous.. yes. Do we kill ourselves with dumb penalties.. yes.

BUT.. our defence has and is improving. No doubt we are missing LVE out there and our pass rush hasn't been effective. I hate our 'all hats to the ball' over pursuit BUT the D is still putting up some decent stats. They got a couple of turnovers against the Bears.. they kept them to field goals after some good drives.. and generally did the best they could.

The real problem is our offence. When your offence puts up ZERO points after the first drive until the fourth quarter.. then your D is always going to look bad. They get gassed.. they get down. We had opportunities to go ahead by 2 scores TWICE in the first half and whiffed on both. That gets any D down. The missed FG which means we are playing catch up doesn't help either.

When we get behind we go pass happy which is a disaster for two reasons.. first Dak is crap (been saying that since he stole romos job.. glad others are finally seeing the obvious) and our passing offence is crap unless it is junk time or the opposition is stacked very very heavily against the run. Second reason is we are on the field for shorter amounts of time - ie our defence gets exposed more.

Yes the defence can improve but I don't think they are the main problem.. Dak and our passing offence is where the issues start and, of course, the woeful coaching staff (particularly clapper). Change the HC and QB and this team could be very dangerous.
I cant agree with all of it but generally you are correct, its worse for the defense being on the field so long with short fields given up by ST, the offense turnovers, and 3 and outs or short possessions by the offense.

thats why all the groups are equally at fault for our 6-7 record.. its been 1 of the 4 each of the loses that have spit the bit at one point or another. Thats equal blame to the offense, ST, Defense, and coaching....this record is team loss and thats why its tough finding a solution as its not one or two things to make adjusments too, each game has a different suspect to blame..

But I can tell you this the defensive tackling/penaltys the last 2 games is abig reason we lost..theres no argument there..

I don't know how you could have watched the last 2 games and come to the conclusion the defense is improving. The Bears, which had been a dreadful offense, moved the ball at will against the Cowboys defense.

Simple math. Gashed up the middle + No containment + Missed tackles + Poor pass defense + Dumb penalties = Bad defense.

Celebrating stops on first and second down only to be made a fool of on third down:facepalm:
:hammer:you are 100% accurate on this. What burns me the most is how they celebrate and then continually give up big plays or commit horrible penalties on 3rd down.

Aside from the crap teams we faced, the only 2 games the defense played well was the Saints and Patriots games.we gave up 12 and 13 points respectively and it was the offense that went AWOL

Other than those 2 games and the bottom feeder teams ,they’ve been getting pushed around

This post has truth in that our offense is handing the ball back to the opposing team consistently, wearing them out. Those trying to absolve the offense are Dak homers.

Against the Bills our defense held on an INT Dak threw on our own thirty. The next series Dak fumbled the ball at mid field which the Bills scores on.

We were basically top 10 in scoring defense until last week. We’ve always been bend don’t break, so if the offense keeps going three and out, it’s obviously going to wear on the defense more, especially since we can’t create TOs and how we play, which is to not give up anything big.

The only reason opposing teams aren't putting up more yards is because their starting field position has been so good.

The Bills averaging starting position was the 40!

Special teams is a huge issue. All the missed FGs kill momentum, don't put point on the board and leave the opposing team with favorable field position.

The defense can't make stops, can't tackle, can't stop the run and hasn't won us a game.

The offense has a low production rate in the 1st quarter, abandons the run and becomes predictable when playing from behind.

The coaching is just straight hot garbage.
