Why should Moore stay? The offense has struggled and can’t score in the red zone. That is as much Moore's fault as anybody’s.Whoever the next coach is, they have to be ok with Dak Prescott as the quarterback.
That's got to be a big part of the interview process. Some coaches are really hard on their quarterbacks. They need a certain type to run their offense. Otherwise, they have to strip it down, which castrates them as effective playcallers.
If Dallas chooses an offensive guy, he's got to believe Dak can run what he wants. That is crucial.
That's why a defensive-minded coach is likely the ticket. Let Kellen Moore stay as OC and handle that. Get a tough defensive motivator type. LSU took that approach when Coach O hired the Saints passing coordinator for Joe Burrow.
If you go offensive, the new guy has to accept Dak. How many if them might want another option, such as a first-round pick to compete? Would Jerry tolerate that?
I wonder what Riley, Meyer, or any other candidates think about that situation.
It makes a strong case for the Ron Rivera type. He knows what it's like to have a limited passer at QB. If course, Cam could run.
That wouldn't excite me, but it makes sense.
This is an intricate hire coming.
Tebow has the same characteristics. How did he work out?Dak is young, extremely committed and has assumed an intense work ethic.
I'm thinking very few coaches would have a problem accepting his presence.
Quarterbacks owning those characteristics are desirable to build success on.
Dak missed a wide open Amari Cooper vs the Bears that would haWrong, it is more like some bad plays calls at the wrong times, as well as stupid penalties killed many many drives. More so the penalties.
Also this team do not deem to handle blitzes this year as in the past.
Defense and ST's sure doesn't help, Dallas is last in the NFL in starting field position.

Dak should not be re-signed without the input from the next head coach. There is a chance a QB could be a first round target should the Cowboys lose out .

No matter what he thinks about Dak, it would be idiotic to sign him to a long gem deal before he signs a HC.
Personally, even after the new HC comes in, I think he should be tagged. Nothing to lose in getting one more year to evaluate .
As I said in another thread, the Jones boys aren't giving a choice. Dak is the QB the next HC has to play with...what can they do with what they have...
I wonder what any new potential coach would say about the fact that the Dak he gets next season will be playing on the franchise tag!
Well the next HC is basically doomed. Dak is too inconsistent. I don’t want a QB that plays like Ryan Fitzpatrick (aka, elite and amazing one game, terrible the next game). He will end up hurting this team. I was too blind to see that earlier in the season and I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I cannot be ignorant. He has been straight arse these past 3 games. He panics way too much under pressure. His accuracy likely won’t get any better and he will probably continue to throw behind his receivers. We need to tag him, bring in competition, and decide what to do after his tag year.
If we go with Lincoln Riley, I have to think he's going to target Jalen Hurts in the draft. I'd be surprised if he didn't.
Agreed. They could be the next Kingsbury and Kyler, who are already a good duo IMO. Hurts and Riley would be amazing. I’m all for letting Dak go if this was the duo we’d get.
Only moronic fans have an issue with Dak.
ALL coaches would love to have Dak and this roster as a base to build from.
