For several years now, I have wanted Garrett fired, but what If rumors are correct that Jason Garrett will be coaching somewhere next year... ie the Giants, why would he want a new extension here?

He has been hamstrung for years now, all aspects of control on this team have been stripped away, He is basically a fan like us, only he stands on the sidelines with a headset, and all he can do is clap.

If he had any dignity as a coach, he would want out of here!!

He can't even cut his kicker...I don't see how he would want to stay here.

I have made this point for several years and this year, just look at him on the sideline, he can't wait to get away from the circus and get to a normal football team.

The team's ability to play four quarter football flatlined a while back. I could see Garrett not wanting to return if he cannot jumpstart it again. Not many coaches would regardless if they were primarily responsible for their team's lack of performance.

Many have been asking this question for a long time. I will be shocked if he gets a HC job in the NFL. Sure Jerry is to blame for a lot, but having Jerry meddling doesn't explain the stale offense, poor in-game decisions, and lack of adjustments ect.

Maybe all this goes to the conspiracy theory posted in another thread. Maybe Stephen has been trying to force Garrett to resign since 2015 season?

Let's be honest. If Jerry offers a new contract, Jason will take it unless he already has another offer in hand.

Someone here yesterday said Garrett is as done w Jerry as the other way around, and there may be a ton of truth to it.

As ridiculous as Garrett is, there is probably chaos on top of undermining behind the scenes that is frustrating.

Its gotta be tough to tell the media that kicker will be evaluated only to have the owner say it wouldnt be.

I can only imagine what we dont know....but again, as bad as Garrett is, he didnt hire himself.

Jerry needs to hire a name, let him pick his own staff, and not speak to the media after games before the coach does, and down the line.

Has Jerry ever been graceful when firing head coaches? I don't think Jerry has it worked out at all. I really believe Jerry is hoping the Cowboys turn it around and start winning. He wants a reason to keep Garrett. Maybe you are right and Garrett does not want to stay but unlike the silly media, I really do not think there will be a market for Jason Garrett as a head coach once he is gone. Sure, some teams may forgive him this past season blaming the mess on Jones, but GMs who actually have to keep their jobs are not going to take any chances. If Garrett is really a puppet and a figurehead on this team then GMs around the league will know that. They won;t be willing to allow Garrett to take control of their teams if he has never done so in Dallas.

I know the rumors about the Giants, but I think that is total nonsense. The Giants hired Fritz Shurmur two years ago. If after two season they want to dump him, they will want a guy who is more solid than Shurmur and that is not Jason Garrett. The Giants can't afford another coaching mistake. I can see the Giants going with Ron Rivera before they go with Jason Garrett. Then they'll hire a QB guru to coach Danny Dimes.

Ask yourself this. What other team will be knocking on the door of a coach who just presided over his team's collapse?

Jerry Jones and Garrett's agent can say whatever they want about "coaching in the NFL next year."

What team is going to try to sell this loser as 'the answer' to their fanbase?

Garrett is Jerry Jones failed vanity project. Jones was the guy who stuck by this guy and showed more patience than any other owner ever would have. And how has that grea patience been rewarded? With a total collapse.

Nobody is signing up for the same.

what is this rumor that he will be coaching somewhere else? Other than Jerry I havent heard 1 other person say he will get another job as HC. Reading between the lines think all Jerry was really saying is IF Jason is HC next year it will be for another team. Reading the Giants board after rumor started they were 99% against it. You think its bad here-the NY media would eat him alive. They will call him out weekly for not gameplanning, making adjustments, and a poor playoff record despite having good teams. NY is opposite of Cowboys- they want a leader/general not a puppet. Garret may be an OC somewhere but he doesnt have the clout to call his own shots for a HC position much less wanting to walk away from being the HC of the Cowboys

Could be. But I'd imagine unless you know that your getting a contract somewhere you never turndown money if offered. I'd agree he's probably ready to move on.
