Franchise Dak and let the new coaching staff use 2020 as an audition year

They aren’t bringing in a coach who doesn’t sign off on Dak.

Yea, franchising Dak would be about the dumbest thing we could do. Every year, as the cap goes up, his APY will go up. If we’re lucky, the % against cap will remain the same, but that is no guarantee. Sign him and Amari, and get a competent coach. If not, then just rebuild

Stupid. This was his audition year.

It makes sense if they're rebuilding, they're not.

Yep, that was a stupid suggestion.
This year further improve his marketability and they were already well set on Dak as their franchise guy.

and do people also not realize that franchising the star QB is gonna immediately freeze up much of the 2020 roster cap in which we will have extreme difficult using
available cap on signing or re-signing anyone else ? (ala Cooper, Quinn, Cobb, etc.)

....he's getting those yards because he's throwing 40+ a game.
And why is that? Romo did the same. I bet you didn't complain then. Mahomes does the same every game, yet all of y'all praise him as the best QB in the game for being able to do so.

The minute you are looking for a QB, then you are rebuilding.

No coach is going to take a job where year 2 may be the start of a rebuild

Why does Romo at all matter here? Stop the whataboutism, it's a fallacy.

Your argument is bad here. A QB getting 4,500+ passing yards is no longer some grand feat. This isn't 1983, dude. It's 2019 where we've had multiple 5,000 yard passers and had THREE of them came in a single year before. Winston has 4,000+ passing yards already as well. Should the Bucs pay him a crap load of money?

And Mahomes? Dude, stop embarrassing yourself. Mahomes had 50 TD passes to 12 INTs on 580 throws. Do you see the difference here? Not only did he have a high amount of passing yards, he had a crap load of TDs and a low amount of INTs in comparison.

When Dak has that kind of year, we'll start putting him in the conversation with Mahomes.

not if they change the offense, Dak will need to show he can grasp the new playbook and schemes and do well in the new offense.. makes sense not to hand him 5 @35+ and he not be able to run the new offense...you then are sticking the new coaches wit player they dont want..makes sense to me..

Signing a guy to top-5 money for a one year evaluation in a brand new offense make absolutely no sense to me.

I also agree that the Jones' are sold on Dak and any new coach/staff is going to have to be on board, or at least be able to convince Jerry they are.

They are bringing in a new coach? News to me. You told me Garrett wasnt going anywhere

Find the post. I’ve said for a long, long time now that this was an obvious prove-it year for Garrett. And that it should be.

And I said he won’t be canned mid-season unless the team obviously quits on him.

Don’t start putting un-supported words into my mouth just because I don’t agree with the consensus that Garrett can’t coach.

Proof is in the pudding. Garrett is terrible. Wont be long now.
