And on top of everything. Him getting Zeke back into Zeke shape and mindset will be beneficial for the entire team. Zeke has taken on the timid approach of Garrett. That is the biggest difference from 2016 until now.
I wonder if Jerry wants Meyer just to punish Zeke.

LOL

I'm increasingly convinced that Jerry is going to hire Urban Meyer. It makes sense. I don't think Lincoln Riley would want any part of this. I wish they'd look at Matt Rhule, but I don't think they are. Established head coaches like Sean Payton would want complete control.

Meyer has a bevy of ready former assistants out of work right now, and there's a good chance he'll retain many of the existing coaches like Kellen Moore. I think Jerry wants that. I don't expect Meyer to be here long - he never is - and Jerry wants in-house options sooner than later. In fact, I think Jerry wants this to be over quickly, just like he did with Parcells.

"Please fix this and leave." That seems to be the corner Jerry has painted himself into. Again.

Meyer is a CEO-approach coach like Garrett in that he won't call plays. He does have a big personality like Jimmy, who didn't call plays either, and he'll rule with intimidation and force, which is fine in general.

But what kind of team are we really going to have under Meyer?

He is without scruples. He had 40 players get arrested while he was at Florida. He ignored violent and repeated spousal abuse committed by one of his assistants at Ohio State without saying a word. He tolerated multiple incidents by Zeke, which became so intense that Joey Bosa had to change roommates. It's a common theme everywhere he goes. His programs are like circus freak shows, and it'll be harder to contain these "secrets" in the NFL than it was in college back then.

However, he does win, by whatever means necessary. So there is that. I expect he'll do that here more consistently, and he's a big enough presence to command attention from players. He'll take no gruff from Jerry on the football decision front. I like that, and I don't think he'll spend time blowing sunshine up his players backsides like Garrett and Jerry do constantly. More to like.

But there's the other ugly side, I fear.

Meyer wouldn't blink twice about bringing in Greg Hardy. He'd do it over and over if he thought he could win. He doesn't care about "right kind of guy" whatsoever, as long as the production on the field is there. Doesn't care about reputation or image the team projects. He cares about winning.

Imagine a roster full of Burfict, Beckham, AB, Incognito, Hardy, and Tyreek types.

I don't expect players like Amari Cooper and Byron Jones to respond well to him. Not sure about Dak or Leighton. I wonder what Zeke thinks? I do think it would be good for a few players who need a swift kick in their derriere.

I'll give it this. It will be VERY different than the past 10 years. For everybody. Including Jerry.

That is, in the very least, interesting to ponder.

Do you remember the players and problems Jimmy Johnson had at Miami from 1984-1994 (graduating last recruited class).

I see nothing regarding off the field unless the coach is a part of it (like Switzer). What is shown is that all kinds of players respect, admire, will play through walls, and are respectfully intimidated by Meyer similar to Jimmy.

Jimmy had the White House during his time in Dallas. After Jimmy left, Jerry got rid of it. In Miami Jimmy had Luke Campbell for those players with off the field habits and problems. After Jimmy left, Miami got rid of Luke Campbell.

Neither Jimmy or Urban have been arrested for drugs, charged with sexual assault, rape, or drunk driving. So what does that have to do with their coaching? People make their own decisions and choices. Jimmy and Urban know how to manage people with decision problems. Both are successful at doing that style of people management.

Its time for Urban Renewal of the Dallas Cowboys.

Until the Country Club Culture changes, along with our players attitudes, they will look the exact same in a different scheme.

Urban will get him in line and give him that killer instinct back. When Zeke came here he was undefeated in road games since high school, and was known as the guy to close out the game and we saw that in his rookie season. Spend enough time around Garrett and you start taking on his habits and demeanor. Meyer will instill that mindset again and I would expect a killer Zeke to come back.

Urban does not run a country club. And wont come here unless he is allowed to implement his ideals. The question is. Has jerry realized the only way to win is for him to step out of his own way?

You really should talk less when it comes to Urban Meyer. You obviously know little about him other than tabloid stuff and crap you've read on internet message boards

He wouldn't think twice about bringing in Greg Hardy? Pretty sure Jerry did that, with Garrett as his coach, so what exactly is your point?

You haven't the slightest clue to how any players would respond to him.

Urban Meyer is a God among coaches. For those of you not familiar with him I suggest you watch the video I attached. The guy is nothing like the weak minded and totally fake Jason Garrett. I love Jason Garrett as a man of character, but his flaws have enabled him to take on a chameleon role with the cowboys which is unflattering. What I mean by that is Garrett will be the tough guy when the camera's are rolling throwing out fake F bomb after F bomb, only to smile like chester cheetah and say all the canned and processed things during his idiotic Jason Garrett shows. The guy is complete phony as a coach but much like Jerry a great salesman of himself!

Watch Urban in this video and you will see what a real coach looks like and why if we can land him we would be stupid not to.

I heard at Garrett's last "pep rally", he didn't even give the players a choice on what kinda Happy Meal they wanted. He bought all chicken nugget Happy Meals and if the players didn't like it, they went hungry. How's that for tough? Some of the players were even heard calling him a "meanie", not to his face of course...

Loved that video by the way...

There's a pretty resounding track record. You can look it up.

Fewer stupid mistakes. Better in-game decisions and adjustments. That alone gets us to 10-11 wins. Add a beefier DL that can stop the run and a better scheme for our LBs and he could easily win 12-13 games year 1. He took a 6-7 OSU team to 12-0 his first year there. Change happens fast.............and oh yeah, he knows what to do with Zeke.

These are the reasons why I'm intrigued by him.

I’d say they would probably look like a random sample of the general population at the county jail.

So..same as the last few years? Got it.

Actually, alcohol related vehicular manslaughter is a little bit bigger than county though, right?

The NFL has an issue with behavior, to act as if it's just one team or one coach is a bit silly. Especially considering some of the most recent cases.

I think both Carolina and Washington are also interesting opportunities. Haskins would be a benefit to coach up and Carolina may not be much farther away from contention than you guys, they have some serious talent.

May point is I don’t think that if Urban chooses the NFL next year that it’s an automatic he’s going to Dallas
Haskins sucks! There is a reason it took so long for him to get playing time...And who is gonna QB in Carolina? Mcaffry is gonna get run into the ground...Look at Zeke and he is much bigger ....Commanders are a complete train wreck...as crazy as it may seem...Snyder is 1000 x's worse than JJ...and that's saying a lot....

Out of curiosity, where would it stop with you? Would you support a convicted pedophile as HC? What about a guy like Paterno who had a pedo on his team but turned his head the other way in the name of winning? Would that be ok with you if it brought home a Lombardi?

Jerry will never completely step out of the way until he can no longer function. However, he showed with Parcells that he can work with a proven coach who knows what he wants. He's still going to make decisions that he thinks is best and sometimes he'll be right (drafting Ware before Spears) and other times he'll be wrong (signing Owens), but he let Parcells do what Parcells wanted to do and I believe he'll do the same with any coach who has shown he knows how to win.
