Just saw a video which i i struggled to watch all the way through because of Skip and Shannon.

But watched because Scandrick doesnt sugarcoat the team, but doesnt try and be cute with his responses either.

Skip and Shannon were there as usually trying to out cliche eachother about Jerrys meddling and pep talks and it switched to Scandrick. The look he had was like he was looking at two idiots, and just said Jerry doesnt give pep talks.

Then they start talking about the players and their play. And again Scandricks just looking at both of them and when it switches to him he says, Marinelli is a guy who runs a strict scheme, fundamentals ect. Then just says this isnt Marinelli's scheme, its Richards scheme. Says Theres a reason Carroll got rid of him. Said he is a great Db coach and repeats theres a reason he isnt coaching in seattle.

Then again skip and shannon go off on eachother and it resorts to talking about the offense. Skip starts talking about Elliot and starts talking about all the cliches this forum talks about. The sticking point, Elliot isnt going nowhere with the ball. Scandrick chimes in and says, how is elliot supposed to get going when there are 2-3 guys on him as he gets to the LOS. How is he supposed to get off when youre running the same plays every week. No changes no adjustments.

This is coming from a guy who was on the team just a couple yrs ago.

If Richard is more involved and changing the scheme that could explain why they are so much worse this year.

I have been blaming Marinelli, but at the same time we know his scheme was mostly good enough last year. So which is it, have teams simply adjusted to Marinellis scheme or is Richards influence killing the defense?

Im not defending any of our coaches, but this is a somewhat logical explanation for our drop off. Id love to hear from someone who studies the Xs and Os like @xwalker. How accurate is this take?

The biggest differences between the defenses and for me is the biggest reason for the drop off in run defense, is the gaps the NT is leaving because of how easy teams are washing him out of the way because of the scheme asking him to be over aggressive off the snap Which leave the LBers exposed. Thats one problem, then having this same DL scheme with a back end playing cover 3. Anything under is going for a first down then bad play from the S spot and thats why were are seeing so many big plays. Theres too much open field with the way theyre playing the schem and it starts up front.

But Marinelli has been here for years and refuse to draft one or get one in free agency. This entire mess starts with him and works its way down from there. We need to clean house all the way around.

Someone, can't remember who, fought me tooth and nail that this was Marinelli's scheme even after admitting Marinelli runs cover-2 and we run cover-3.

This is Richards defense. Marinelli may not have gotten this defense a lot of turnovers or high level play, but it was never this bad either.

Richard is a good DB coach but he is not a good DC
He may end up being a good HC someday but I wouldn’t want to try him myself

Everything is broken with this team and it really looked like, for a second, that the direction was going with the wind of the sail.
Everything is broken and there are so many weak points, when you look at the entire organization.

I remember when we signed Richard everybody on here was ecstatic but there was a big thread on the Seahawks forum full of fans who were happy he was gone.

Gotta admit I was gushing over the prospect of him eventually moving into JG’s job but now I just want him gone, along with Rod and JG. Moore can stay because I think if we let him loose w/o JG constantly undercutting him we might have something.
