Why not Saban?

It seems like a lot of the wishes for the next Cowboy coach is coming from the college ranks. I am not crazy about some of the names, but if we are talking about college why not throw Saban in the mix? Now he may not want to move on and he may not want to work under the clown show here, but shouldn't a call at least be made? Alabama is at an interesting spot. I am sure they are going to be good next year, but for the first time in several years, they may not be one of the top three favorites entering next year. Plus Saban has the Dolphin failure on his resume. Does he want one more chance to try to win big in the pros? Saban has mentioned in the past how the fanbase at Alabama takes for granted winning at Alabama and this has frustrated him.

Last night on HBO there was a show where Belicheck and Saban had their conversation taped. I only saw half of it, but it was really interesting. They allowed a camera to be in the room with them as they talked about philosophy, coaching, etc. You get to see the side from Belicheck you don't see in front of the media as well.

He like Dabo, aren’t leaving. They make more money than anybody else, are legends where they are and consistently win.

Saban is 68. He’s good where he is at

Maybe....although he has 6 CFB titles. Adding another one or two is just adding him to the legacy as greatest college coach ever. For a guy who has moved around a bit, he has been there for a while.

He will probably stay there but right now the only negative people point to is he failed in the NFL. Now may be the last time he has the perfect chance to give it another go before he stops coaching.

He’s already making huge bank, he’s established and riding the gravy train when it comes to recruiting and he sucked his last go round in the league. Plus he’d never work for Jerry.

Jerry runs a clown show here but Jerry is a master salesman. People tend to like him too. His act may grow old down the road, but Jerry definitely has a different dynamic than someone like Dan Snyder. Neither Snyder or Jones win big, but people tend to like Jerry.

Head coaches with a strong track record for success and who aren’t a fan of their boss micromanaging them don’t make good candidates for this team. When Bill Parcells was hired, Jerry temporarily stepped back from the spotlight as he worked to get his holy “stayjum” built. IMO, Jerry doesn’t want to hire a HC that could overshadow him in any way possible. Jerry is a very insecure man.

But he is friends with Jason, and after the season when Jerry names Garrett the GM, he would work for him. :lmao2:

But no, no to Saben.

I think Jerry is hardly insecure. Seems senile, yes, insecure, no.

Can the season atleast finish before you people start your emotional threads about who should be getting a call or not? Dallas is still playing games, Saban is getting ready for a bowl.

I mean, do you remember last time Saban tried to be an NFL coach? Sometimes coaches as better suited for college than the NFL and vice versa.

if you're gonna take on that kind of tycoon as a HC, make sure he is bringing you something rarely unique to where he is the innovative of the new age,
new era, new future of NFL football. space age vs stone age, and you don't have to be as concerned about monster ego and over exerted authority battles.
Saban makes it work at the college level for decades, where he's dominated college recruiting and best mold it into winning at CBS playoff system.
But that's NCAA. and Saban is not Bill Belichek.

Belichek made his mark as constant innovative and the measuring stick of coaches and building ground at the NFL rank and level.
Belly himself is a constant on finding new ways to strategically beat his opponents on both sides
That's not Saban. He is still old school conservative, he'll stay conservative old school.

I think Saban is more at his best when he can call all the leads and shots without an authority figure over his head.
And if you know Saban and you know Jerry, you know its' going to be so very short lived, if at all.
The nowadays Jerry is more content with compromising and working cooperatively with Stephen and McClay, very highly doubt that's gonna happen with an ego driven Saban.

Not advocating for Saban, but this is always the excuse for not hiring a good coach. Jerry is always in the way...good coaches don't want to work for him and Jerry doesn't want to hire them and have to give up power and *gasp* the spotlight. Hence why we never win anything.

There is no way Sabin is leaving Alabama for anything but the golf course.

It's a pipe dream to think he would come to Dallas.

I don't really understand why everyone says he failed in Miami. Did you see those rosters he had to work with? Quick, who were his QBs? And he still managed to squeeze out a winning season with that dumpster fire.
