Tarkenton, Cunningham , Young and Vick weren’t fun first QB’s. They were very mobile QB’s who could run. Tebow and Kordell aren’t worth discussing. Not near the talent level as Jackson.

Lamar Jackson leads the NFL in TD passes. Pretty remarkable for an alleged run-first QB.

Jackson's 30 TD passes so far this season are 9 more than Vick had in his best season.

Would Jackson be effective passer without his running threat?

Nice attempt to deflect from the fact that you had no clue he leads the NFL in TD passes.

You've continually claimed he's a run-first QB, which is ridiculous given what he's doing with his arm. He's a QB who can run. Difference.

The only QB to have ever played in this league you can compare Jackson to is Vick. Injury didn’t derail Vick’s career. Getting hit didn’t derail Vick’s career. Killing dogs took Vick off his pedestal. You keep saying running QBs aren’t sustainable. There aren’t many examples out there to prove your point. Let’s see Randall Cunningham, Fran Tarkenton, RG3 and his gimmicky college style offense, Tim Tebow and his inability to even throw accurate slants, Kordell Stewart...
You’re stuck on “running QB’s” vs “QB’s who can run”. A more logical way to look at is that any QB who runs as much as Jackson does, is not going to last long.

I don’t recall saying he was a “ run first” qb. That’s your interpretation. I said he was a college style running QB.

Who thinks his passing game would be effective without his running threat? No analyst I’ve heard.

Forgot about Young

I was arguing your point that running QBs aren’t sustainable. Now I’m not quite sure what the definition of a “running QB” is. Perhaps a QB with 100 or more rushing attempts in a season idk. My point is, saying that Jackson’s style of play is not sustainable in this league is short sighted. Before Jackson there was only one other QB to have played his style.

Again says who? Besides RG3, who hasn’t lasted long playing Jackson’s style? Vick? We will never know how long Vick would have lasted.

Says me. I’ve been watching this league for over 50 years and none of them have ever lasted. Vick got injured and was never the same. It wasn’t the dog killings.

Good question. Running QB is a subjective description. It could mean different things to different people. There really aren’t any other running QB’s like Jackson now to compare to.

He looks like a running QB to me. One that wouldn’t be effective in his passing game alone.

Hard to say, but his running threat is part of the package. Can't split it out unless he was coached by Garrett.
It is hard to say. My guess is he wouldn’t be an effective passer without his running threat.

One day we’ll probably find out unless you think he’ll avoid injury to his knees his entire career which is unlikely for a running QB. Hard to see him as effective as a pocket QB.

In the 50 years you have been watching the league how many QBs played like Jackson? In an offense like the Ravens offense today? I can only think of one, but I have only been watching like league for 20 years give or take.

Vick played in a different era in his prime....

Jackson is still forcing defenses to worry about his legs, which opens up things in the passing game. He has 151 rushes this year dude, he's a runner that leads to passing.

EDIT: Oh and he has also hasn't thrown more than 25 times in a game since week 6. He's 2-2 in games this year when he has to throw more than 30 times.

Mike Vick retired in 2015. Fran Tarkenton played in a different era.

Jackson leads the NFL in TD passes. He's already got 9 more this season than Vick had in his best season. Vick was a career 56% passer playing in the same era as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlisberger.

The two games Jackson lost his defense gave up 33 points and 40 points, clearly his fault.

Otherwise, you nailed it "dude".

Has nothing to do with style of offense, it’s all about # of carries. A QB runs the ball a lot like he does will get injured. It’s just a matter of time. Rockport’s law of football physics.
