They shouldn't they should trade him or let him become a FA and then Take a QB in the 1st round of the draft, and then sign another QB in FA if a decent one is available for the right price while they groom their #1 pick for a year

Your faith in this front office is remarkable. The only two good QBs they've had since Aikman were accidents. Targeting one higher in the draft?

Quincy Carter
Johnny Football (Jerry wanted to do it)
Paxton Lynch (Jerry was bummed Denver outbid him)

Sure, no problem. Just pluck a fresh apple from the "Franchise QB" tree, Jerry. You can do it. :muttley:

I'm not saying give Dak a mega deal, but the cavalier manner in which some fans talk about upgrading cracks me up.

We shouldn't but maybe Dak will be Jerry's last QB. Not sure if Stephen will do better but time will tell.
Naaaa.. Jerry’s going to be our GM well into his 90’s. We’ve got probably 10-15 more years of Jerry running Cowboys Football.

NFL teams do not fear or gameplan for Dak Prescott as a passer or runner in any notable way.

How much should you pay a quarterback like that?
Another Dak hater thread. Are y'all insane? You realize he's going to be here for years to come don't you?

Trubisky was rated higher than Mahomes in that draft. For every team that hits on a guy like Mahomes, three others give up a ton of draft capital to get a Blake Bortles or Jameis Winston.

......and Trubisky shouldn't get a contract like Mahomes is gonna get.......neither should Rayne Dakota. Difference of opinion on value only....not of the opinion that he cant play in the NFL

I don’t see much difference from fans wanting an Elite QB to an Elite HC.

Which one do we think is a greater possibility with Jerry?

I have my gripes about Dak, for sure.

But without being antagonistic, what is the purpose of this thread?

To oversimplify Dak as a player like this doesn't make any sense and comes across as petty.

OP, I know you don't believe that defenses don't game plan or prepare for Dak.

This could just be lumped into the hundreds of the other "how much do you pay Dak" threads.

Well....I guess you'd pay him what other guys who other teams don't fear. Does anyone fear Jimmy Garapolo, Jarod Goff, Kirk Cousins or Carson Wentz? They got 28-34 million...so there's your answer.

Yea

Mahomes went to a more playoff ready team. Much like a top draft choice would fare better here than say in NY or Clev for example.

How do we think Dak would have done on one these awful teams ?

My faith left this front office when they refused to give our Pro Bowl QB his starting job back in 2016 (when they built the team for him) but tried to convince us they were trying to win a SB with a rookie QB even though in the history of the NFL no rookie QB has even made it to the game. I also don't think Dak is anything more than a very average QB so that is where we probably have our biggest dissagreement. I like him as a man a person and an individual. He has a good head on his shoulders and was obviously well brought up by his Mother. I just don't think he is a franchise QB and he i think he has gotten the benifit of being surrounded by a bunch of elite talent his 1st 4 season and IMO they carried him not the other way around. Just my opinion

Mind you...they lucked into both Romo and Dak. Wasn't like they had a top pick in the draft and were sure things. They lucked into them. ESPECIALLY Dak. At least you had the Sean Payton connection with Romo. With Dak they tried to get Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook...then training camp came and they had him behind Romo and Kellen Moore and had him competing with Jameil Showers who they switched to safety. They just like the rest of this league has no idea how to find a quarterback. They could go 20 or 30 years trying to find a quarterback.

Possibly with the minor exception of Cousins, those are some overpaid Quarterbacks

And I’d argue all of those QB’s are more Prolific Passers.

You can argue the Cowboys are just as bad with just as bad coaching.

Dak came in with a great offensive line. A offensive line some guys would die for. But it takes more than having a great offensive line. For instance a great coach can get something out of a decent offensive line. But because we can't we have to have the highest paid offensive line in the league and even then they don't play like it.

I hope Dak leaves so I can hear these great ideas on who should QB this team

If he and his agent are still intent on a short 35-40 mil deal, I hope they leave to and I don't care who the "great idea" is that plays QB. If the guy we got can't win for you, then there is no sense in paying out a huge amount of money. You can get that from a crappy QB anywhere.

I mean that's subjective. Overpaid to me? Yes. But if everyone is overpaid then you can't really say its overpaid. At some point you have to come to the realization that is simply market value and that's the real question. Do you want to pay market value or do you want to just draft a guy very 4 or 5 years?

I just don't think we have enough data to say what will or won't win a Super Bowl. Like right now everyone says you can't pay a quarterback and win a Super Bowl. But at some point every good quarterback is going to be overpaid and that myth will be put to rest. Especially once Watson, Mahomes, etc. get paid.

He had more than an OL. He had a WR1 and leagues leading rusher.

Most top drafted QB’s go to crap teams . Dak walked right into a playoff caliber and ready offense despite their coaching.
C’mon Man. Lol

Is this a fact?

I'm neither a Dak hater, nor a Dak "slobberer" or whatever their called now a days.

I was hoping you were going to ask if I thought Dak was a better Ryan Fitzpatrick, with the INTs dialed back a bit.

I was sorely disappointed.

You can’t over pay a QB who needs all of this supporting cast.

At some point the QB must be the reason you’re winning by elevating lesser talent around him.
