So why not find out?

This team (even if it lucks into the playoffs) isn't going anywhere. We all know it

Why not see how big the drop off is?

Could save them millions in cap space during negotiations. But, maybe it's better to win a meaningless game than get some useful knowledge to help plot a potentially successful course for next year.....

What useful knowledge against a team trying to lose for a higher draft pick . With Jerry at the controls there is no successful course for next year .

My apologies K

I totally misread your comment as a sarcastic take.

I wish the eagles Giants game was at 1

Would make it easier to get Rush some snaps if it didn't matter. In this scenario Garrett has every excuse to treat this as the most important game in history with a potential playoff berth (and perhaps his job) on the line

Do you think this game and a playoff appearance are enough to save his job?

I don;t recall seeing Jerry so angry. Not sure anything but extended playoff run is enough.

Why not find out about every backup/bench player on the team? Just bench all starters and see what the backups have.

Now, back to reality. You don’t find out because there is a playoff berth at stake, and because it is the job of every coaching staff of every team to determine who the players are that give them the best chance to win. That’s not just a Cowboy thing, that’s an every team at every level thing.

It's still the Commanders and they have an interim coach. Jobs are on the line.

They will be playing to win.

Fine by me

Let someone else grotesquely over pay for his services
LOL...Dak is a starting QB in the NFL with two(maybe 3) division titles under his belt. The market value for that is around $40 million dollars per season right now. Dak didn't set the market nor did he force Jerry Jones to draft him. It's obvious that Jerry regrets drafting Dak so I don't understand why he would use the franchise tag on Dak to keep him.

Can't make a deep playoff run without making the playoffs

Garrett will be coaching this game like his life is on the line. In a Cowboys related perspective, it is

I wonder what kind of contract would the Bears and Commanders offer Dak this off season.

How does playing lesser players and making it harder to win ease the frustration?

I never said it did. You keep making huge assumptions.

And since you are so BIG on this assumption game you are playing...you do not know for a fact Rush can't win a ball game. In fact we really don;t know how good or bad Rush REALLY is....you just don't know. So...just stop it.

The frustration likely isn't going away. Dak has played poorly over the last month or so. This is not in questions and has little to do with the rest of the problems this team has (except imo some receiving issues). Now...at the end of our season....might be a good time to try an answer some questions about our future. Might be worth 30 million or more.

I'm not very hopeful about a successful playoff game let alone a run. I will enjoy it as much as possible...gonna be a long way to next game.

You’re the one that linked making the change to Rush to frustration.

As for my assumptions, they are based on facts - Rush’s draft status, his preseason games, the fact the coaches clearly see him as lesser than Dak. You have nothing to suggest he may be as good or better than Dak. Your argument for Rush is simply that The team has lost games and he isn’t Dak. That argument could apply to every backup player

I also wonder if Dak's agent contacted the Titans and said he'd sign with them if they would choose the much younger Dak over Tanneyhill.

I don't think so. But it wouldn't surprise me if it did. There would be no WoW moment.

Dude. My whole point is pretty clear. At this point I have to think you're intentionally trying to cloud it

1). Even if we make the playoffs we're not going anywhere
2) Dak's asking for crazy money
3). Therefore why not play Rush with the starters and see how much (if any) the drop off is.

Would be good to know when negotiating with Dak's agent

I'm not talking about playing the rest of the backups because none of the other starters are demanding $40 mil a year.

If Dak's worth $40 million and is that much of a difference maker in this offense, I'd expect us to have either a 3 and out or a turnover on every possession. Wouldn't you be interested in seeing how "bad" we are without Dak out there? I would think his biggest supporters would be chomping at the bit to see someone else flame out under center

I did. And I never said it was ease ANYTHING. Is English your first language? There seems to be some problems communicating here. You are making rash and incorrect assumptions about what I am saying.

I admitted frustration and uncertainty. Acting out of frustration isn't necessary rational. The last couple...more like 5 of the last 7....have me sick. Such promise and now....hanging on my the slimmest of threads. I'm like ****....let's shake it up.

It may..or may not help.

~snipped for space and clarity~

I'm thinking the exact same thing. He's either bored and wants argument....or....something.

Not saying he has to agree with the premise....but he's really going roundabout.

April 1 is months away[/QUOT

Some people claim to be fans of the Cowboys but know nothing about the team. Jerry Jones will hire a coach, but do you really think Jerry is going to give that coach control and allow him to get his quarterback. Dak will get his money and he will be the quarterback next year. It's time to get over it.

A fan doesn’t get to make the decision for the team that it should just quit on the season.

A fan doesn’t get to decide for coaches if a backup is close enough to the starter to get a chance, and the coaches have no obligation to prove it to fans.

The NFL would frown on and maybe penalize a team for giving up with a playoff spot possible.

We don’t know what Dak is asking for. It’s all media speculation.

Why would any Cowboy fan want to see any Cowboy player flame out? No fan of the team would take delight in seeing our backup QB suck.

Gee, ya think? These are not the questions I asked.

I understand but it's kind of a chicken/egg thing

Going back to your questions, no a victory today does not save JGs job imo

I would agree that only a deep playoff run could save him at this point

But if they don't win today (and also get some help from NYG) then the playoffs aren't even possible.

Therefore JG will be coaching against the skins as of his life was on the line because it basically is.

Is comprehension anywhere in your thought process. What is the point of making a change based on frustration if not to truly and ease the frustration? If that isn’t the reason for the change then it’s just a mindless pointless thing to do.
