IMO... I think Jaylon and his old buddy Marinelli prioritized getting tacking/sacks stats this year in order to Justify Jaylon’s new contract.

Of course— they ratcheted the DL stunts so Jaylon could rack his tackling stats

So— they have tried to make this “ Legion of Boom ” but defense never not relied on scheme . We have won when we scheme coverages and stop stunting DL in running plays.

Jaylon AND Marinelli sabotaged the defense to get Jaylon stats, AFTER signing his contract. AND Dak and Kellen sabotaged the offense just to show off Daks ability to pass?

Offense was top 5 unit all season long... defense not so much..

I’m not sure Marinelli would conspire with any player to help get them a contract, but I 100% believe there is/was a divide in the defensive locker room. Some loyal to marinelli, some to Richard.

You're actually right. Not sure if it was the The Fan or The Break, but they said there was division between players that were Pro-Richard (D-law and Jaylon) and Pro-Marinelli.

Jaylon got his contract largely because of his success blitzing last year, and they planned on trying it again this year, which turned out to make *extra* sense because Jaylon's increasingly poor agility tipped the balance even further toward him blitzing over playing coverage.

Marinelli always stunts. He has for years. This wasn't a new thing this year. He did it a ton last year as well (big reason we got trucked by the Rams).
