I have been saying all along that I think it’s 50/50 that Garrett is retained as HC. The big win tonight bumped the odds slightly higher for Jerry retaining Garrett.

It got the team to .500. The team played another complete game on O and D.

it allows Jerry to convince himself that with a bounce here or there we are 10 and 6 or better which is true.

I don’t know if Jerry will can Garrett or not, but I know he doesn’t want to.

The fans would not, on the whole, be happy with that. But what if:

1. Jerry fired the special teams coach tomorrow
2. Marinelli gets the boot too
3. Jerry makes a run at another legit DC candidate and keeps the better of the DC prospect or Richard.
4. Announces that Jason failed buy he has one year to right the ship.

I think half the mad fans could get on board with that. Maybe even 3/4.

Wouldn't be suprised at all if this is what happens or partially what happens.

Dallas can't do enough in one or two offseasons for me to think they'll contend. tbh

I think there would be a mutany.
The fans and even the local media have been calling forvhis head for several games.
The backlash would be incredible

He could retain Jason Garrett with the express purpose of handling the transition to a new head coach ;)

Dallas’ best chance to win now may be to keep Garrett, ironically.

Zero chance. He either extends Garrett long-term (unlikely) or let's him go. The one year prove-it deals don't work in coaching, as this season showed. You can't assemble a decent staff if they know there's a strong chance the HC gets fired and they'll be looking for work again in a year. 2019 was destined to fail from the start because Jerry approached it like this.

I dont think they could do it unless they signed dak and cooper. Tagging them would take too much of the cap for next season.

Absolutely not!!!

Garrett had one year to right the ship, this year...……..and he failed miserably.

Clappy has to go, there is no other outcome that is acceptable to the fan base.

With Jerrys pc and Garrett actually sharing emotion when talking about this past week instead of his robot responses leads me to believe he knows its over. The way he shook hands with his staff on the sideline as the time ticked down was another thing you never see from him. It was a sad sight but he knows, Jerry knows, the team knows, the media knows and the fans know its time to change.

If he does that then he wont get another dime from me until Jerry dies or steps down. I'm reaching that point with him.

To my knowledge Jerry has never said Garrett only had one year to right the ship. That school of thought is based on connecting the dots and speculation. It could be accurate but Jerry hasn’t boxed himself in.

Garrett's contract expires Wednesday.

If this was not a prove it year, then why was Garrett not extended before now?

Again, Jerry can do what he wants. You seem to be wanting this to be a prove it year, but to my knowledge Jerry has never said that. There are other rationales that would fit a different narrative (such as valuing Garrett going forward).

Dak was also treated the same way last year. There is little doubt the team did not intend to get rid of Dak but to establish contract value going forward.

Risk of loss is another reason for waiting. You may be right in your connecting of the dots. All I am saying is the fact you want it to be true so badly does not make it a certainty.

Oh yeah !!! Jason will be resigned. We can’t let a great coach get away. I believe Stephen will get more power and control and he Garrett and McClay will get this thing ironed out and win! Garrett will finally get complete autonomy to hire his own staff and to coach the players , meaning they will only hear his voice and the front office backing him, not like it has been with him backing the front office

Did you also notice Garrett say I want to coach the Dallas Cowboys next year. That doesn’t sound like a coach who knows he is a goner. It sounds like he knows it possible but he holds out some reasonable degree of hope that Jerry will keep him.

I don’t think anyone knows what Jerry will do, because I don’t think Jerry knows yet.

If it does, and I am a homer and former Garrett guy, I will have limited care for seasons going forward.
