OP was so proud of coming up with this that he decided it needed its own thread.

Couldn’t just post it in one of the several Garrett threads on the front page.

Garrett should be a man and just stand down. Been here for 10 years and hasnt come close to getting the job done and still wants to beg for more, even after throwing countless coaches and players under the bus. You’ve taken enough from this franchise, these players and this fanbase, have some damn pride and stand down.

Jerry just doesn't want another team benefitting from their investment in Garrett.

It makes sense. If you're bat crap crazy.

It's quite incredible to watch a guy who's team has failed for the past 25 years still act like he knows what he's doing. To still do whatever he feels like whenever he feels like it, while the on-field product stinks. To fail to adhere to the standard practices of the team that are succeeding and are winning. To do things on his terms, and his timing, no matter the mountains of evidence proving it's not working.

Jerry fires Tom Landry in 5 min on a golf course. Yet somehow he can’t bring himself to ax the guy who took us to the playoffs 3 times in 9 years.

It's all about the feels here. Jones never knew Landry personally so there was no emotional attachment. He also had absolutely no idea how things work in the NFL when he fired Landry. Now he just thinks he does, so he acts from a position of confidence and arrogance. And every decision he makes when it comes to Garrett is made with personal feelings overruling the actual results. To the detriment of the team and on-field product.

Garrett is definitely staying with the Cowboys in some form. One thing about Jerry, love him or hate him he tries to do right by people he cares about. If he wasn’t keeping Garrett, out of respect he would have let Garrett know on Monday so he had a chance to interview for some of the open head coaching positions available.

And it’s why 30 of 32 NFL owners have realized its best to hire a football expert as GM. Like the winners of the last 23 Super Bowls.

Honestly, it's more fun to speculate and guess as to what is happening with Jason Garrett and why he is harder to kill than Chuck Norris (as an aside, I say Chuck Norris is the kind of tough guy we need as Head Coach and hope he gets hired) than it would be if Jason Garrett simply left and let Jerry look for a new coach. I hope they keep this ruse going until Dallas appears on Hard Knocks and they reveal the mystery coach they actually hired in the beginning of January.
