The more I read about Greg Roman, the more I feel he is a perfect fit for our offense. His scheme is more run based, which is the Cowboys Strength. Has developed several mobile type QB's with great success, before we state that Dak is no Lamar Jackson nor Kapernick, he did develop Luck, Alex Smith. When this Cowboy Team has been at it's best, it was all about the team's elite, ground attack.

If the Cowboys do go the hot offensive coordinator route, they must bring in a veteran DC and ST Coach.

Yes please.

I’m still on the Urban wagon, but I’d take your scenario in a heartbeat.

I don't know what happened to our offense this season, but they'll probably bounce back regardless of who the OC is. Of course the better that the OC is then the better our chances will be.

I think Roman is very much a contender.

I would love to have Roman running this offense, but I still think my first choice would be to have a true HC. Not a coordinator who needs significant help running two phases of the game.

I could follow that.

Guys do you think there is a chance Roman is a one year wonder? How did Kitchens do?

The next coach must be a proven commodity. Enough with this potential crap.

That would be the ultimate best. Jerry might even relinquish some power...

Anything is better than what we have had.

That sounds good but not really. I'm not going to villainize Garrett for the sins of the Owner. You guys can do that. You've been doing it for 25 years. Anybody's better than this bum coach!

Any and all first time head coaches just grateful for the job will be another doormat for the Owner and absolutely nothing will change. We would just have a new worst coach ever.

The run based thing is important. Dak is best with 25-30 attempts as opposed to when he gets around 40.

In that regard, Jason Garrett really made Dak and Romo the same guys. Qb’s who won most and played the best when a good rushing attack and 25ish pass attempts where the formula. But were a big gamble when you relied on them solely.

Well, you just had to say it. :muttley:
I have been thinking it, but that is the bottom line - there is no telling what could have been if Jerry hadn't emasculated his coaches.
For the record, I admired Garrett for a number of years and defended him. But, for whatever reasons, he had his chance, albeit a slim one under the iron fist. Now, he had no real power this past year, but he has created his own problems. That, I can't abide.

If the Cowboys want him, they would have to go all in with his vision.

And they would need to devote more talent to the offense, most notably at tight end. The Ravens made an organizational commitment to getting that offense to be their focal piece in the draft.

It is not quite as easy to import a scheme seamlessly. I don't think the Joneses would ever sign off on him to the degree that he would need to make it work.
