jimmy Johnson found the pursuit of wahoo far more enjoyable than coaching in the nfl. if the vikes were dumb enough to release zimmer, he would be pursued by many other teams. he'd we willing to sit out a year rather than coach for the cowboys who rejected him before. some think Callahan would coach here, too. I doubt it. I suspect that in the end, we will settle for a hc, rather than choose who we want. and for that we can thank jerry.
:hammer:If you let a fox guard the hen house, he'll have chicken for dinner.

I respect Zimmer, I wish Jerry would have hired him to begin with but he's seen this gong show under Jerry and probably doesn't want any part of it...

Please. Each time THE Dallas Cowboys have had a head coaching vacancy, every great available coach was just dying to be in Dallas.

I mean just look at these names who have interviewed over the years who didn't get the job:

George Seifert, Terry Donahue, Sherman Lewis, Norv Turner, Mike Singletary, Jim Caldwell, Ron Rivera, Todd Bowles, Todd Haley, Tony Sparano.

Wait.
:lmao:

Count me among the skeptics.

Zimmer gets axed, he will say, "Source? What source? Mort doesn't know anyone who can speak for me."

Head coaches love nothing better than to be employed.

But again, Zimmer isn't the kind of coach who would be able to demand of Jerry the full control and autonomy over the coaching function that we have to have going forward.

We need a coach with a serious resume, in the mold of a Parcells.

Need.

Man, I recall being actually excited at the thought of George Seifert. Those are the depths that Jerruh can bring you.

Broaddus said the same thing. He had a big fallout with Jerry Jones. Zimmer wants nothing to do with him according to Broaddus.
He didn't realize that you can't actually stand up for yourself, you have to say 'yes boss'.

Most of us see Jerry as this: You'll get my gun when you pry it out of my cold dead hands.
It's possible, however, that Jerry is willing to cede control to a Parcells type coach.
Perhaps he alluded to that when he said he is learning to be a better GM...

Don't worry. If I were, I wouldn't be a broken record saying this over and over and over again. It's not that we have any serious influence as fans, but what little if any we have needs to come across crystal clear... like never before, we need to be uniting behind what Aikman said last week, and staying on point... we don't so much care who the next HC is, we care that Jerry get the hell out of his way whoever he is.

Jerry's meddling in what, for any other team, is the coach's authority is the constant in the equation of the answer to the question "Why haven't the Cowboys been back to the Super Bowl in decades?"

@Bobhaze said it best - money talks - the rest walks.

There’s only 32 of these jobs, so if Zim were out in Minny I wonder what his reaction would be if Dallas wanted to talk to him.

he changed the defense to satisfy Parcells, and they maintain a great relationship. When Bill left, Jerry went with Wade, I’m sure that sticks with Zim.

I’m also CERTAIN, he resents like hell that Campo got the HC over him.

so yeah, he’s likely seen enough of this circus.

Well don't know if true or not but Im starting to warm up to McCarthy if you look at his numbers compared to Payton almost dead even. If McCarthy was HC and a solid Def and OC i might be happy
Id take McCarthy as well. I think he will be a guy that wants control and wants to pick his staff. Sounds like he's also been studying tendencies for every team. That's better than our current way of just doing what we do and execute. That worked 25 years ago but not today.
