All i know is the panthers got rid of a super bowl coach. Makes zero sense to fire the coach and retain Cam, considering Cam being on and off the field hurt the team offensively. Not sure of their other issues, but they've been fairly consistent.

If this is a bash against Jerry all I know is that he is genuine. Garrett had all the time to improve and adjust. Garrett had all the control Mike has so I don't believe for a second Garrett was set up for failure.

Last time I was excited about our coach was when we had Parcells, but his QB choices were awful until Romo took the field.

Say what you want, truth is, the Dallas Cowboys are America's team. Deal with it and move on.
I’m not even sure fans cares what that means anymore.

At the height of our championship eras it served as bragging rights. But who cares if we’re popular or wealthiest if we aren’t a great football franchise.

If anything it serves as a reminder of what we once were and it still is the target on our backs Landry warned us of.

I think now some fans grasp onto the term as a reason why they still support this dysfunctional organization which is anything but a great football franchise.

are we really complaining about JJ and stephen sitting at the PC and answering questions?

JJ has always loved the spotlight. and for the first time in a while he’s hired a Proven coach whom he’s allowed to bring in his staff.

i’m good.
Why do we give credit to Jerry for doing the normal thing? So after 25 years he is allowing a coach he hired to pick his own staff. Don't reward stupid owners for doing the right thing.
David Tepper is a hedge fund guy and is way smarter than Jerry. People need to stop giving Jerry so much credit. Jerry hit the lottery by hiring Jimmy and has been riding that wave of success for a very long time.
Take away the first 5 years of his ownership and Jerry is an abject failure.
Not one championship game appearance since January 1996!!!! Please think about that before you post something supporting Jerry Jones..
As a Cowboy fan I really hope we get lucky with McCarthy but Rhule is definitely the more ambitious hire. Let's see what happens.

Sometimes you make a change just to try and turn the tide. Very common in sports and business regardless the current leaders pedigree and prior success record. I agree with your premise though.

And Cam is still under contract but is a huge issue Rhule will have to deal with. As it’s probably time to move on from Cam too. I’d say Panthers are expecting a rebuilding of sorts there with a 7 year commitment. And not an immediate turn around.

Had no problem with press conference. The Jones boys, will be the Jones boys. McCarthy, is not a wet behind the ears pup. I believe he will get this organization, back on track. The team will be assessed, and constructed into what we as fans, expect.

Whiz kids are splashy and new, but this team needs to be invigorated. Technology, will be used, to an extent, but player management, will be essential. I, for one, am looking forward to the next chapter; one page at a time.

I get it. You don’t like how much JJ has been involved and I don’t either but it looks like he is letting him get his own people so that’s a change. That’s all I care about, if I owned the team I would be involved in everything also. Not football operations but most everything else.
That wasn’t the point of this thread. I was just pointing out the contrasts between two organizations’ introductions of their new head coach. That’s all.

People making excuses for Jerry as usual.

He and his son's insistence on sitting out there are problem #1 with this franchise.

Jerry's analogy to McCarthy being available at this time was the same as Aikman being available when he bought the team was awful. As were his dumb stories, including his sister wanting a divorce and not "hearing bells" anymore.

Stephen laughing the whole time like a teenage school girl with a crush was embarrassing too.

However, I did like all the things McCarthy said and I'm not his biggest fan.
I gave you a like because there was no option for a 1/2 like. Would not mind Jerry (the stories were stupid though) but agree completely with you on Stephen and how stupid he looked and ridiculous it was for him to be out there. He comes off as a baffoon!

Im sure the Panthers fan base can use some of you fans who have a problem with everything this team does. Do us all a favor.

I’m amazed how a thread that simply pointed out the contrasts between two organizations’ press conferences to introduce their new HC, is turned into telling fellow fans to stop being Cowboys fans. We’re on the same side. A healthy fan base includes differing opinions. It’s what makes a great fan forum.

Looking at two new NFL head coaches being introduced to the media today, one couldn’t help but notice some major contrasts between how the two organizations introduced their new HC.

In Carolina’s press conference, new HC Matt Rhule was introduced by Panthers owner David Tepper, who after introducing Rhule, exited the stage. Rhule walked to the stage, spoke a few min about his philosophy, then took questions from the media. Neither Tepper nor his General Manager took the stage to talk to the media. Their new HC clearly is their mouthpiece. Here’s a link to the Panther PC:

(Intro starts about 6 min in)

In the Cowboys press conference to introduce Mike McCarthy, owner/GM/Jock sorter/Hotdog vender Jerry Jones sat alongside his new HC along with his VP and #1 son, Stephen Jones. The Jones boys talked more than Coach Mac. Quite a contrast to the Rhule intro. Here’s link to today’s Cowboys presser:

(Jerry starts the PC off at about 3:30 mark)

Jerry NEEDS the spot light to share his stupid philosophies and personal anecdotes. The guy is insufferable. I am less worried here because I think McCarthy is uncomfortable with the media and just wants to coach football. His is probably happy the dithering old codger will keep the media entertained.

It is painful to see Jerry speak these days.

Almost sounds like someone is just now noticing that Jerry Jones is not like other owners.
Odd.

Very true, but his performances still make some of us cringe. Corny, emotional, and Narcissistic. He cant help it, anymore than us can help being Cowboys fans

Parcells started using a table for his press conferences pretty soon after taking over.

Garrett brought back the podium the day he took over.

The table is now being utilized because Jerry and Stephen were naked from the waist down........poor Mike

To be fair I always thought the dark side was a lot more interesting than the goody goody Jedi.

It is more interesting while it consumes you from within. You can’t carry those feelings around and not atleast try to enjoy a new dawn in Cowboys lore without crying about something so trivial as a presser.

Us baby boomers seem to high a higher standard of excellence than more recent generations. A lot of Poke fans seem content with making playing 3 times every ten years and never reaching the nfc championship game.

Lucky to be born at a better time.

The thing I noticed about Big Mike was the way he was stuffed into that suit. The man is a heart attack waiting to happen. Then where the Cowboys be? One of the stipulations for the job should have been for Big Mike to lose weight and keep it off to ensure the man will be around to do his job. For those of you that love to make fat jokes about Romo, Dak or Zeke, please feel free to unload on Big Mike. That guy's weight problem scares me.

you people are relentless for one I wanted Jerry there because this wasn't just about a HC hire he has yet to speak about Garetts departure as well as other contracts, how the new staff would be chosen etc etc etc..

fact is we lambasted jerry and Stephen for not coming out soon enough to talk about Garetts future and now they finally emerge to talk about it and they get ripped..

yes they were different but is there a right or wrong way too have press conference? seriously this forum finds more to whine about then A toddler losing his binkie..

did you drop your ice cream or have a boo boo that needs kissed..

man the panther are in the Sb this year because of their press conference.:muttley:

Look, I like the McCarthy hire. I think he’s good for this organization right now. Again, my point here was to simply show the contrast in coach introductions. Somehow that turned into being told I could take my fandom elsewhere and being asked if I needed a boo-boo kissed? Who’s really whining here?
