Texas associate head coach and run game coordinator Stan Drayton is scheduled to visit with the Cowboys today, according to a source. He coached Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State before serving as Chicago Bears running backs coach from 2015-16. Gary Brown, who has been the Cowboys running backs coach since 2013, is still an option to return.

Odd that he'd be interested.

He was an RB coach in Chicago with a fair amount of success. He got what appeared to be a bit of a better role at Texas and likely could have a bigger role there next year. Why would he come back for another job as an RB coach? He's certainly got to be gunning for OC roles at the college level at this point.

probably because getting a guaranteed multi year deal in Dallas under a proven coach on what looks to be a good staff is much better than get scapegoated by the Texas head coach after they win 6 games or whatever next year and end up without a job.

He's basically just a rb coach for UT. His titles are assist HC, RB coach, & running game coordinator. He also has a history with the Packers as a quality control coach.

Why wouldn't he have that sort of deal at Texas?

Does he have a guaranteed contract with multiple years left on it? I don't know. Also Tom Herman is going to fire everyone before he is removed and that started this year so if you have a better job with a proven coach who you already know it would seem to make sense.

I've heard his name mentioned a few times already. I think if he's 'making a visit', he's a good bet to be named this team's next running backs coach.

And I'd also like him to have him have a voice in this team's running game as well. We have plenty of 'passing guys'.

Slater had a tweet earlier and mentioned Stan's name.
