I don't even know if I'd be sad about Dak holding out. I think he is a great person and I want the best for him, but I just don't think he is good enough. If I'm paying someone 40 million dollars he better have an elite physical trait. Dak doesn't have one of those.

I just feel like the answer to all of this is let Dak hit the open market and find his true value.

I don't see any need in competing against ourselves.

If he leaves fine.

We'll use that money to build our roster closer to the 9ers or Titans.

This will not happen and his agent would advise against any hold out. There might be some sabre rattling but he will be there with his team because no QB has ever held out, especially one with the exposure and endorsements he has.

The first QB to hold out will not be that team's QB and every agent knows it. There first question to their player is "do you want to stay here"? Followed by "how badly"?

A QB cannot hold out because he affects every piece of the prep of the offense for the season and the Cowboys are installing a new offense. How do you think Prescott would be viewed by the public? Getting 27.5M guaranteed and not showing up for work? Bye Campbells, Pepsi, Sleep Number and every other endorsement he has. And if he did that after the draft when they could have taken one, he would look even worse.

I'll tell ya, I would not be surprised with death threats against him by the good ole Cowboys fans holding out on 27.5M.

Except they didn't hire this HC to do that. They hired him to make this QB into a playoff QB and I think he agreed he could do that. Letting Prescott walk or tagging him has not been a real consideration of the Joneses.

I don't think he'll hold out but he's in the same position as Elliott was going into last year. A team that desperately needs him to hold the ship together with no other good alternatives. He wouldn't lose sponsorships for what's considered normal NFL business either. The only place he'd have a negative effect would be with fans but if I'm a player I wouldn't care less about what they think. They're mostly Cro-Magnon drama queens anyway. He would want to uphold his good ol' boy image as the QB but if he gets paid massively, fans will hate him for it anyway, hence my philosophy about fans, lol. That's why Zeke's agent was brilliant. Get the largest contract ever in exchange for "uncomfortable" fans mouthing off on the internet. I'd take that trade.

You don't just let him 'walk' if you're not willing to pay him 40m or whatever ridiculous number his agent has in his head. You tag and trade him since people seem to think there's a big market for him even though he plays behind a top 5 OLine with a top 5 RB and a top 5 receiving core. They made him an offer of 33 million a year and he turned it down...

Tag him. If he holds out, he holds out. Go draft a young QB, bring in a Vet to start and see what the future holds.

Bingo. If Dak and his agent want things to get ugly. The Cowboys can make them quite ugly.

There are more quarterback options than ever before available in 2020. If Dak listens to a draft bust like Marcus Spears for career advice? He can lose his seat at the table in Dallas. Go and try to find your fame, fortune, and success somewhere else. He will never have it as good as he does with the Cowboys.

All makes sense to me but I think Jerry is too afraid to repeat the Quincy Carter, Tony Banks, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson era. As much as I would love to see it too, I have no hope that it will happen.

He could of caused a fuss last year playing for 2mil dollars. He didn't.
Attended MC and TC.
This upcoming season he's going to be taking in 27-32 mil dollars depending on the FT designation he gets.

He may want a longer term deal, or maybe he's fine with "proving his worth" again.

Just draft in the first round.. We'll be fine. QB's are better then ever coming out and Dallas has a rock solid foundation for any QB to step in and be ok.

Just get someone with a little mobility and we'll be fine.
